The course is pretty mellow and features some moderate bumps, so it’s really best suited for those lighter, more aggressive skis—think something like the Schild or Poutiainen models.
I don't know, I have this nagging feeling that that crash in Aspen really messed things up. It feels like the first run was way more cautious than it probably should have been. Maybe they're just playing it safe because of what happened.
I mean, look, I guess it’s fine... there's really no need to force it, especially since they’re competing in every single discipline. You have to manage your energy and spread your strength out if you want to actually finish strong.
Resurrected said:That bitter rival of hers is sitting on a 100-point lead in the slalom right now. I guess it’s going to be a massive uphill battle for Janica to close that gap, unless her performance starts tanking. Maybe if Anja Pärson steps up to help out, there's a slim chance, but it's looking tough.
Oh boy... we are still a long way from the finish line. There’s plenty of season left, with tons of slalom and giant slalom still on the schedule—not to mention the speed events, where I guess Janica is actually starting to show some real improvement.
And let's not forget about one more combination. 😉
I still think Janica has the best shot at taking home the VKG, even if she misses out on all those little milestones along the way. To be honest, though, I don't really care who ends up winning it in the end. I mean, Jana already has two under her belt. 😁
Look, at the end of the day, the most important thing is that she stays healthy and keeps her conditioning up. If she does that, the results will follow eventually. She’s way too much of a professional to let a minor setback like this get under her skin or mess with her career.
I don't know, I have my doubts that Poutianinen is going to stay in this kind of form consistently.
Looking back at how Anja Pärson performed last season, that win didn't feel nearly as dominant or certain as it did when the season first kicked off. I guess it just wasn't as smooth as everyone initially expected. 😉
Look, what applies to a distance runner also applies to Janica, I suppose. But even so, I honestly think Jana could handle a much more intense schedule and push through more races than Tanja ever could.
What really gets me excited is how much more thrilling the races have become lately. It honestly feels just like those first two seasons when Janica started dominating the World Cup.
Two years ago, she was basically untouchable—it felt like Janica just owned the entire field. But this past season? It was all about Anja Pärson. I guess things just shift like that sometimes.
This year might actually be worth watching for once. You’ve got Janica still working her way back through recovery, while Pärson seems to be struggling to find her rhythm—though I guess those constant losses in head-to-head matchups against Janica aren't helping her confidence much. Then there's Poutianinen, who honestly looks like she's in incredible form right now. It could get interesting.
Just wait until Dorfmeister and Göetchel finally decide to show up...😲
And then you've got Aspen in the mix too. 😉
Everything will work itself out eventually. I guess. 👍
