Cysts aren't contagious—you can't just catch one from someone else.
I actually had surgery over two months ago to remove an ovarian cyst measuring 8 x 12 cm. It wasn't causing any issues at first, but then it started growing like crazy.
When I first found out about it, it was only 1.8 x 2 cm. My doctor told me to leave it alone—said there was no need to touch it. It took nearly eight months to reach 5 x 4 cm, and then, within a single year, it ballooned to 8 x 12...
Mine was a Dermot. After the surgery, they even showed me the photos—absolutely fascinating stuff. And the wildest part? The thing was literally packed with hair, nails, and teeth!!!!

Generally speaking, a cyst is just a cavity filled with fluid.

Is it contagious? That really depends on what's causing it.

No, it doesn't have to be. Instead, you could use some other kind of semi-liquid substance.

I’m not sure why you’re asking, but I don't think you need to worry about an infectious disease being the cause of a cyst. It’s been a long time since I dealt with those, but regarding illnesses that can lead to cysts, things like pig or swine flu are more likely candidates.
