Intolerable Cruelty (2003)

So, I finally sat down and watched that movie last night.
Honestly? It didn't really hit the mark for me.
Catherine looks stunning, obviously—but Clooney? Not so much. He’s nowhere near as good as he was in *Who Framed Roger Rabbit*.
The plot felt thin and way too predictable; you could see the punchlines coming from a mile away. That old guy on the monitors... I suppose if you're a kid under eight, he might actually be funny.
Anyway, it just lacked something. It felt unfinished and ultimately fell flat. I definitely expected more.

That’s just the same old tired playbook, isn't it? Just a hot woman for the guys, a handsome guy for the girls, and who cares what they actually have to say about it...

Hmm... I'll take your critique with a grain of salt, though—it's the Coen brothers we're talking about.
Honestly, this movie is a top contender for having one of the absolute dumbest translated titles out there.👎

... I was actually planning on hitting up the theater with my girlfriend to catch this one... is it really that bad? 🙄

It’s just your run-of-the-mill rom-com. Nothing to write home about. 🙄

Nooo, those aren't the Coens. The real Coens were kidnapped and now they're digging ditches on Mars for some robot, while the "Koyens" are the ones making these gross movies... I just can't believe the actual Coens would ruin such a great idea.👎

Look, the Coens clearly took a gamble here. By pivoting to a standard rom-com starring massive A-listers, they were basically chasing a paycheck.
The problem? It didn't hit the box office, and people actually hated it.
By stepping away from their usual style, they lost that sharp edge and sarcasm we love. They traded in their weird, beautiful character depth for something much more bland.
In the end, it managed to alienate both the casual viewers and the die-hard fans.

It feels like cheap candy compared to a Coen masterpiece.

Anyway, total disaster. Thank God it was a "family day," otherwise those tickets would've cost me $11. Just awful. Truly terrible. The only funny part was when that killer puts a bullet in his mouth instead of his asthma inhaler 👍

uff, why were tickets at AMC Theatres so cheap back then? Or was that price for the whole family?

Anyway, watched it yesterday in Central Park.

Honestly, I had super low expectations based on the poster, the descriptions, the lead actors—I figured it’d be just another boring, cookie-cutter chick-flick rom-com.
I actually thought about skipping it entirely.

But hey, it ended up being a really pleasant surprise. 👍 There are some good laughs, and it's a shame Geoffrey Rush—well, his character—doesn't have a bigger role in the movie...
