They definitely deserve more credit, yeah. They aren't exactly part of my "all-time greats" pantheon—but you're right to bring them up. As far as I can remember, Tres Hombres is an absolute classic, and honestly, Tush and La Grange are probably their best stuff.

I honestly don't think there’s a better way to capture that whole Texas/USA vibe than those mid-tempo grooves they pull off in most of their tracks. It just hits right... makes you feel like you're cruising through the desert at sunset.
Man, I just love Americans 🙄
They've got one of the most quintessential American sounds out there, and honestly, that shift they made toward that heavy car culture and Coke-fueled energy in the late 80s? Absolutely legendary.

I get more vibes from those clubs with the red lights—for a pregame, I’m thinking Townes, Drive-By Truckers, or Neil.

They were actually supposed to play at our local Lollapalooza back in 2007, but then that whole thing happened with Dusty Hill's ear and they ended up scrapping the entire tour. I can't honestly say I've listened to them more than anyone else in my life, but hey, people call them legends for a reason...

I'm not talking about those kinds of clubs—I mean the spots where guys like Woody Harrelson or Michael Shannon show up just to hang with some long-haired, tattooed rednecks dealing crack and hitting on girls. You've got fans whirring, everyone's sweating, there's probably even flies buzzing around, and some redneck is just sitting there sipping a Budweiser.😁

They’d be a perfect fit for a dive bar in Twin Peaks... 🙂When they start playing, you just get this sudden urge to go out and punch someone, honestly 😁

I don't even know where to start with this one. Honestly, my head is spinning just thinking about it. It’s like when you’re driving down a highway in the middle of nowhere, Nebraska, and suddenly the road just... vanishes. No detour signs, no nothing. Just empty space where there should be asphalt. That’s how I feel right now. I was reading some stuff earlier—don't ask me which corner of the internet, we all know the ones—and it hit me. Everything feels so disconnected lately. You look at the news, you look at what people are saying on social media, and it’s just noise. Pure, unadulterated static. It’s like trying to listen to a concert through a brick wall. You can hear the bass thumping, you know it's happening, but the melody? Forget about it. Gone. And then you’ve got people like Patrick Martin chiming in with their usual takes. Look, I respect the hustle, I really do, but sometimes it feels like we're all just shouting into a void, hoping someone—anyone—is actually listening instead of just waiting for their turn to talk. It's exhausting. It's like being stuck in a loop, a constant cycle of reaction without any actual reflection. We're all so busy reacting that we've forgotten how to just *be*. Anyway, I'm rambling. My coffee is cold, my mood is sour, and I feel like I've been staring at a screen for ten years straight. Just a thought. Or a rant. Probably both. I can't even begin to process this. Honestly, it’s like trying to explain color to someone who’s lived their whole life in a basement. You know that feeling when you're watching a movie and the logic just completely falls off a cliff? It's exactly like that. Total nonsense. I mean, seriously, how do people even function with this kind of mindset? It’s like they’re operating on a different frequency entirely—one that's tuned strictly to static and bad decisions. Just... wow. I'm actually speechless, which is a rare feat for me, let me tell you.
I’m not talking about those fancy-schmancy clubs. I mean the dive bars where guys like Woody Harrelson or Michael Shannon wander into, looking for trouble. You know the vibe—just a bunch of long-haired, tattooed rednecks hanging out, peddling crack and picking fights with girls. It’s gross. The ceiling fans are just spinning uselessly in the heat, everyone is covered in sweat, and there's probably a fly or two buzzing around your head while some local drunk sips on a Budweiser. That's the scene.😁
Look, when I talked about hitting the desert, I wasn't picturing some two cowboys sitting around slow-cooking a pot of beans over a tiny campfire. That’s just not it. I’m talking about tearing down a highway in some absolute beast of a muscle car, windows down, blasting their music while riding shotgun with the right people. Sure, their tracks flirt pretty heavily with the dark side—you know, that whole outlaw, sinning-on-the-edge vibe—but they always leave you a way out. There's always an exit strategy.
I mean, honestly? I can live with that. It works for me. ☕

I honestly can't believe I'm sitting here watching this crap🤦

Dusty Hill has passed away, leaving a massive hole as one of the two iconic bearded pillars of the band.
