Anyway, wishing everyone the absolute best in this new year (2004, just in case :-))...
I haven't been on the forum in a minute, but I was honestly surprised to find a few kindred spirits here who used to be obsessed with Queen.
Just like I was back in the day.

So, yesterday I finally took the time to rip all of Queen's CDs into MP3s at 192kbps and burned them onto one single 800MB CD. Just enough to have something decent to listen to while I'm driving.

Cyn, it’s pretty cool how much our experiences with Queen line up... everything from "Bohemian Rhapsody" to "Tie Your Mother Down"—you just get sucked into that incredible synergy between Freddie's soulful, powerhouse vocals and those whirlwind lyrics, combined with Brian's raw but relentless guitar work and John's absolutely genius bass lines.

Your takes are spot on. Honestly, kids, take notes if you want to learn what real music sounds like.

Benjamin Morris36, you've basically devoured almost everything else ;-) but for anyone out of the loop, Freddie released quite a bit in just those early years:

- Queen 1973
- Queen II 1974
- Sheer Heart Attack 1974
- A Night at the Opera 1975
- Singles 1973-1975

Or basically 5 major albums plus a huge collection of singles.
Just thought that might help you catch up.
Some things click early on, some things hit you later in life. But hey, whatever—it all hits you eventually, whether you're 12 or 30-something.

I was just reading about how some kid actor had the nerve to tell a punk band they needed to "re-record" the sound of the region. Honestly, the lead singer just shut him down. Like, why bother? Go ahead and re-record those old nursery rhymes if you want. What a joke.
One word is enough...
But I'm not going to lose sleep over it—honestly, it’s better when the sun comes out and says:

I first started listening to Queen back in the fourth or fifth grade... I was just totally captivated...

Half of it went right over my head, but I’d still spend the whole day looping 'Straight to the Bottom'...

It would've been perfect if I'd started singing 'fa fa la si mi ti fala ti' and had some older adult overhear me and die laughing...😁

I guess I'll toss my two cents in too:

In case you guys missed it,🙂 the Kansas City Chiefs played a big game the other day.
Now, I know that probably sounds totally random and unrelated to what we're talking about here, but... during the credits, while all those letters were scrolling up the screen, they played this track by Queen with the lyric "football, it's the real thiiiiing..." I can't quite put my finger on which song it was since I'm not exactly a die-hard superfan, but I bet someone here knows exactly which one it was.
Man, it honestly caught me off guard; at first, I thought maybe they were playing it live at the stadium, but that would have been even more bizarre. Turns out, they were playing it straight from the studio!
I'm kind of stuck on how to feel about it, but I've got this nagging feeling that this might actually be the Year of Miracles... who knows, maybe Johnny will make a comeback or something? 😁

If I had to pin the credit for bringing Queen back into the rotation on anyone, I’d give it solely to Igor Mirkovica and his Lucky Child.
I mean, has there ever been a time where you show up for work at 7:00 AM and hear something like Family Screams blaring from a station near the security gate asking "What am I supposed to do?" Don't think so...
Or maybe you're out near Mount Rainier in the afternoon, and suddenly you hear "Klincek stands beneath the clouds"... 😁 😁 😁
It immediately makes the day feel a little better.
You could never get them to play stuff like that on the radio before.
Now, they actually know how to play something like that.

As someone who doesn't really follow the traditional playbook, I feel like I have this weird little advantage where all those things fans usually call "loser" stuff actually turn out to be pretty awesome to me, I guess. 🙂

I don't know, I see things a little differently, I guess. It feels like that whole generation that grew up listening to Queen—take Mirkovic, for example—they’ve actually climbed the ladder and landed these big-time roles where they finally have enough social clout to pull stuff off. To me, Mirkovic is more like a direct result of that shift in power rather than the cause of it, maybe.

Unfortunately, I wasn't part of that era myself.
But Mirkovic has shown me (and quite a few others much younger than I am) in a very subtle, non-intrusive way, what those times were actually like...
And that they were, indeed, pretty great.

Anyway, my bad TzU—I'm glad you're digging that song by The Beatles. I guess there's really no arguing with taste! Maybe I was just listening to the rest of their discography a little more intensely than most, kind of like a hundred thousand other die-hard fans out there.
So, if "Filigree" catches your ear, definitely check out the rest of the tracks on the album.
You won't regret it.

Just watch out so you don't get sucked too deep into the rabbit hole... just say no.
