Movies you can only watch once

I honestly don't think I could sit through *The English Patient*, *Gandhi*, *Out of Africa*, *Redline*, *The Color Purple*, or *Patton* again right now—not without feeling a bit overwhelmed by the heavy lifting.

I don't think I'll be watching "Elephant Man" again.😢
After seeing that movie, I felt this overwhelming sense of anxiety that I can't even put into words... it just left me feeling really unsettled.😢

Watched it once and I'm never touching it again.

I don't think I could ever sit through Million Dollar Girl again—honestly, I don't think many movies have left me feeling quite that depressed. No way, once was more than enough for me.
By the way, I found The Hunter pretty tedious... I didn't even finish it, though that was probably like twenty years ago. Maybe if I gave it another shot today, I'd actually stick it out...

As for Forrest Gump—I stumbled upon it recently and watched a little bit just to see if it would land better with me now that I'm older, but nope... not really...🙄
Just pure boredom. How did I even make it through the theater?

Speaking of Tom Hanks, does anyone else remember Philadelphia? It’s okay, I guess, it passes... but I will never understand how that Hanks guy snagged an Oscar for it. Especially since he beat out Daniel Day-Lewis for his role in In the Name of the Father... which is a movie I actually *would* happily watch over and over again...🙏

just kidding, I totally get the feeling, even if we aren't exactly fans of this Fincher work. Honestly, I'd rather go back to when I sat in a theater and watched "Gladiator"... man, what a two-and-a-half-hour cinematic ride.
But I get why people flip the channel, they've seen it a million times already (though personally, I always get glued to the screen like it's my job).

A few years back, I went to see Zen from the Mississippi River at the theater... my friend and I were practically rolling on the floor because that movie was just so incredibly stupid. Honestly, there was this scene where some little kid is sitting there reading prophecies off a cereal box.... maybe there are worse movies out there, but this one definitely stuck in my head for all the wrong reasons. And don't even get me started—I wouldn't sit through Karate Kid again if you paid me.

Cannibal Holocaust - even the first time around was a total struggle to sit through. Honestly, seeing those animals get slaughtered for no reason just totally rubbed me the wrong way. I don't think anything could ever convince me to watch that again.

So, I managed to conjure up two absolute masterpieces that I honestly couldn't stomach watching again anytime soon: Breaking the Waves and Straw Dogs.

Maybe, just maybe: the movies we can't bring ourselves to watch are actually the best ones.😕

Oh, please—of course there’s a massive pile of movies you’d never touch again because they were absolute garbage even the first time around. On the flip side, I’ve probably sat through some of my all-time favorites about ten times now, so that whole logic just doesn't really hold up for me.

Personally, I’d also throw Pier Paolo Pasolini's Sodom into that pile. The message behind the movie is actually pretty sharp and interesting, but those specific scenes? Never again. 😢

As for movies that are just boring, annoying, or plain gross, I'd pick:

- Forrest Gump
- JFK
- Gladiator
- everything in the Aliens, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees franchises
- Jaws
- the Scream franchise

You could just go out and find them. Personally, I consider JFK one of the better films, and I found Forrest Gump quite good as well. Or do you all only have an appetite for movies filled with nothing but action sequences? 🙂

Forrest Gump
JFK - Gladiator
JFK - Gladiator
- Everything from that whole run of Aliens, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and the rest of the crew.
Jaws
Jaws - Scream franchise

*Aliens* has absolutely nothing to do with that "crew" people keep talking about. I guess some folks just want to force connections where they don't exist, but honestly, it’s just not there.☕

It’s not always about quality—there are plenty of films that aren't necessarily "great" in my eyes, yet they’re considered absolute masterpieces... I wouldn't watch them a second time even if someone paid me.

I watched it, and honestly? It left me in a massive funk for a month. Right away, I put it in my personal top 20, but I'm not sure if I'll ever have the guts to watch it again. When that friend of hers lost his mind at the roulette table, I was done.

Taylor Swift.

I can't recall ever sitting through something this mindless, tedious, or just plain bad. A total disaster.
