Sundance Film Festival (July 28 - Aug 1)

Alright, folks, anyone else heading to the Sundance Film Festival? I've been hanging around since Saturday, so it’d be great to link up and grab a 😉

I’m actually heading out in just a few hours.

I’ll mostly be hanging out near the concert stage (the Hilton terrace), so swing by if you're around 😉

I just checked in and I've already managed to squeeze in the first movie. 🙂

If all else fails—and I’m talking about the movies here—at least the folks who actually built Ziri deserve some recognition up in Napa Valley. I mean, wasn't srle one of the original guys behind KEXP? 😉

Oh yeah, we’re going for it, at least for one day before the week wraps up... I honestly feel like it’s absolutely vital to be seen out in Napa Valley this week 🙄 🙄 😁

People this year are just too much.
And if someone actually tries to step up, they blow it.
Honestly, I think I just hate people. 😢

👍 That’s exactly why we see more and more of those "high society" wannabes showing up every single year 🙄 😛

P.S. I'm planning on heading out today, but my gut is telling me that for some reason, I probably won't end up going...

Ran into some unexpected issues with the bands, but things have finally settled down. I can actually sit through a movie today. 😉 De, hit me up when you see me.

So, I was just scrolling through The New York Times and saw this piece claiming there are more posers than actual cinephiles attending festivals this year. Honestly... makes me wonder. Let's settle it right here. Who among you is actually here for the art, and who's just here for the aesthetic? 😁

Look, the one thing I actually envy about you is being so close to the Atlantic Ocean (and everything else that comes with living by the coast 😉). But hey, I’ll make my way out there eventually, rocking my latest beach gear, just so everyone can see. By the way, how does one even tell the difference between a poser and a real cinephile?

Even though I’m a California local, I finally made it out to the Sundance Film Festival this past Tuesday, though I’m rarely actually around home...

And—I am never going back. 🙂
That aside, calling this thing a festival is a stretch; it’s more of a street fair. There isn't even any actual production staff or makeup artists on hand, just a massive crowd of older teenagers and adolescents wandering around looking for a drink. They don't even spend money at the local vendors, which means the hospitality industry sees absolutely nothing from this; instead, everyone just grabs their booze from a convenience store and drinks in the streets and parks...

Not to mention that Napa has been completely trashed and covered in filth, with people relieving themselves in the yards of private residences because there simply isn't enough infrastructure to handle the crowd, it's a tragedy...🤮

My take is simple—they should just cordone off the historic district, charge a premium entrance fee, and then host the screenings for free throughout the rest of the city...

If the crowd is more interested in partying than watching cinema, then they can certainly do that outside of the official festival grounds...

I was kind of hoping for some magical vibe, you know? Like a massive crowd of enthusiasts all in one spot—that specific kind of crowd...

The whole of California is heading there today. Probably every young person in the state, just looking to get wasted. 😕
