Last night I sat down to watch a film by the director Natasha Arthy: sebe til venstre , der er en Svensker. Over here, they’ve titled it "Old , New" , but I have a nagging feeling I saw it listed elsewhere under the title "The dog's called fiat 128".

It was filmed following those Dogme 95 principles... I would personally categorize it as a tragicomedy, mostly because I found myself oscillating between genuine laughter and actual tears
😉

The cast was truly exceptional; honestly, it has been quite a long time since I’ve seen acting that resonated with me so deeply!!

I also quite enjoyed the soundtrack—it’s composed by some fellow named Kare Bjerko and features vocals by Jimmy jorgensen. I was wondering if anyone (perhaps driftingowl27?) might happen to know a bit more about their work?!

I’d certainly recommend it to anyone who appreciates European cinema or the Dogme movement... for me, it stands out as one of the better entries in that style!!

I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who digs European cinema or Dogme films—personally, I think it's one of the better ones in the movement!!

Good grief, talk about a wild translation.
The original actually means "look to the left, there's a Swede."

I haven't seen it myself, but over on Rotten Tomatoes, the reviews are pretty lukewarm, if not totally lost.

It's the first Dogme comedy. Honestly, I don't see how you can mix Dogme with comedy; it just doesn't click for me.
Real Dogme should feel like a documentary.
If it's a comedy, it just feels like some hidden camera prank show to me.🙄

I'm really not feeling the urge to go catch this one.

Carol Harris64, honestly, this isn't even some hidden camera prank show!!!!

The film dives deep into those internal abysses we all carry—exploring friendship, sincerity, and love, all captured through that raw, gritty Dogme 95 style......

It’s leagues ahead of any of those loud, neon-soaked Hollywood blockbusters you see everywhere. It manages to portray human emotions and thought processes with such intensity and incredible realism.

I’d definitely recommend giving it a watch!!!

And seriously, does absolutely nobody know anything about that Jimmy Jorgensen?! 😢

He's an actor, singer, and rock musician.

Thanks, but I’m actually more interested in his music... do you happen to know anything about that bit?!

If I recall some article correctly, he was actually part of one of those big-name new wave bands back in the 80s... I'll try to dig around and see if I can track down the name.

Btw, looks like that link is actually pointing to someone else entirely. Such a bummer there isn't a photo of Jimmy included—he’s got that unmistakable birthmark on his face. You can't mistake him for anyone else.

Yes, yes, he really does have a unique look—totally bald, and then you have that birthmark to top it all off... 😎

I actually quite enjoyed the music in the film, especially since Jimmy is the one singing, though the score was composed by Carrie Bjerkø. I stumbled upon a website written in Danish, but from what I could gather, they don't say much about the actual soundtrack... what a disappointment!! At least there are some photos of Jimmy on there.
