Dr. Rockit’s Fireworks is solid. It’s just pure experimentation 😁, jumping from jazz to experimental electronica to classical, even some choral stuff 😍 total madness.

But the best part of the set is also one of their absolute standout tracks—Cafe de Flore. 🙂)))

Honestly, maybe a quarter of it actually lands, but even then... it’s just plain boring.
Regarding that whole Cafe de Flore vibe—I was never really a huge fan of Gotan Project anyway. 😁

What does Starbucks have to do with Starbucks Reserve? 😕
Absolutely nothing.

Just got my hands on some Dany Siciliano 🙂))

Pure magic. So calming. Best experienced in total darkness... maybe just the glow from a monitor.

It’s actually Danny and Herbert working together. They _jesu_ married, if you caught that vibe on their first legendary album..🙂)
(Bodily Functions)

I think Herbert collaborated with Bjork on her last one, though I skipped it. Honestly, her stuff felt way too dull compared to him and Danny. But what he’s done here—it's this strange kind of magic. The perfect way to wind down after a night out at the clubs. 😍

So.. forget Amon Tobin... Herbert is pure avant-garde, always...

Jazzy, magical... I’d go if I were in the mood, but I'm not, so there.. his Bodily Functions is one of the most enchanting electro albums out there, incomparable to anything else.

So, head down to Kset and dance your hearts out to Bonnie & Clyde and for me too! 😉

And drop your impressions, pre-impressions, or whatever here!

groove on

Bodily Functions is pure, concentrated art... just an explosion of creativity... and his DJ sets? Total performance art... all because of the music.

Hey, sounds good on the Matthew Herbert front—we'll catch up tomorrow anyway. Honestly, though, my mind is way more on Amon Tobin right now. Much more so. Heh

Look, would you mind being a decent human being for once and actually trying to explain this to me? I’d really appreciate it, thanks.

Those idiots from Foot Locker jumped on stage and started preaching to everyone + they could've seen everything on the massive video wall... but Matthew Herbert was the absolute goat!

So, I was out in New York City last night, and man, what a blast.
Matthew Herbert is honestly in a league of his all his own... it’s not your typical DJ set, you know? He leans so heavily into those jagged, high-octane rhythms, and there’s hardly any vocals to speak of... (which, let's be honest, can get a little tedious if they drag on too long 😁 ). Toward the end, things finally picked up with some sets from Mu, The Ting Tings, and of course The Audience alongside Bodily Functions.

But if I'm being totally honest, I still walked away from his live performance with the Big Band two years ago with a much stronger impression... I mean, you don't just see that every day, does it? Watching a dozen musicians absolutely shred through those rhythmic, percussive patterns 😁

Anyway, let’s get back to the main point... who actually showed up to see Matthew Herbert over at Kset on April 31st (if my memory isn't totally failing me, haha)...?

I heard a rumor that the peak rush was happening every three minutes or so : ))))

I heard the beat was dropping every three minutes straight. ))))

If we're being pedantic about dates—which I guess we are now—it was actually April 29th. And yeah, it was the same Matthew Herbert, just that those concerts happened a whole year ago (along with this entire thread). 😉

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahah, oh my god, I am such an idiot... yeah, I meant the 29th... HAHAHAAHHAHA... I just realized I typed April 31st, which doesn't even exist... HAHHAHAHAHA.
Yeah, yeah... that one... April 29th, 2005.

Look, I know it's the same Matthew Herbert... that's why I'm posting here in the first place.
So what if the thread is from a year ago? I'm interested in this year's "concert"... and honestly, it feels redundant to start a whole new thread when we've already been talking about Herbert right here, don't you think?...
