What does "old school" The Roots even mean here: the De La Soul era or the stuff from those warehouse shows in Brooklyn?

so what exactly counts as the "old ADF"? Are we talking the era with Deedera, or the shows they played back at The Factory and in Savannah?

When I say "old school," I mean that specific groove they had during Rafi's Revenge and Community Music. That 2001 set at The Factory was legendary—even if Deedera wasn't there anymore. I caught them again maybe two years later... I don't know, the juice just isn't there. It’s not quite THAT anymore. And honestly, I have no idea how the bassist who replaced Dr. Dasa holds up.
If you haven't seen them, just go. Even when you compare the old ADF to the new version, the gap isn't nearly as massive as it is with Prodigy today—and Prodigy is a complete train wreck compared to their prime.

Don't be like that—the last Prodigy album was actually pretty solid.

If you’re talking about Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned... 🤮 then honestly, the only track on that whole album that even comes close to being decent is Spitfire—but even that is pretty much ruined by Juliette Lewis’s over-the-top vocals. 🙄 Just to clarify my point from the previous post, I was mostly referring to their live shows, which have been absolute garbage compared to when they were actually at their peak. You really have to know when to quit once it becomes obvious that time has simply moved on without you.

ADF rocks! I've got the Enemy of the Enemy album (definitely their best) and then there's Tank, which was kind of meh

I mean, Prodigyev AONO isn't actually terrible; you just have to get used to the new sound... though FOTL and MFTJG are still way better...
The new album was supposed to drop this summer, but it looks like it's pushed to early 2008 (might even slip further)
Watching their concert clips, those new tracks like Warning, Heatwave, and Wake The Fuck Up sounded great. I'm really hoping the new record is something special so maybe Prodigy can finally make a comeback

I've only ever heard one of their tracks, "Flyover," and it's fantastic! I haven't checked out the rest of their discography yet, but I have high hopes they're just as good.
