They played at the local dive bar yesterday alongside the Capitol City Dusters and they were absolutely incredible—the new material completely blew me away. A top-tier band in every sense of the word.

Men, they were never exactly geniuses, but I still don't get those polished, overproduced indie bands everyone seems to obsess over. Give me some raw, gritty American noise any day... you'll see.

They're one of those rare bands I can't stick with for more than ten minutes, even though I’ve genuinely given them a fair shot a few times. On top of that, they're loud enough to make you think they were punished by being forced to load artillery cannons during a rough childhood.

banderas, I’m not going to weigh in on those Pink Floyd tribute shows—that kind of music does absolutely nothing for me, let alone interest me... so it would be nice if you’d also refrain from commenting on Peach Pit, seeing as I assume their sound doesn't excite you any more than it interests you...

I had to bring up Peach Pit because they're everywhere lately. I actually made an effort to sit down and listen to them a few times, which—unlike some other shows in your genre—wasn't a complete waste of my time.

Look, I'm basing this on a single CD and some old recordings I heard ages ago—maybe a compilation, maybe a demo, who knows. It’s more of a provocation than an actual reasoned argument.

ensemble? Alive and kicking. I’ve been catching up regularly with two of the members lately... though I didn't quite catch everything regarding that one guy and his French tambura... he was rambling on about it yesterday, but I was busy watching the guys, so I wasn't paying super close attention.

The album was slated for an Earwing release last fall—but after bara left, Earwing basically stopped handling any publishing at all. I have no clue what their current status is, but we are reaching out to get them to play a set at Kset on May 17th. They’ll be sharing the stage with Bambi Molesters, Peach pit, FNC Diverzant, and Man Zero. It’s going to be one of two nights dedicated to bara—the second one goes down at The Swamp the following day.
