There’s this group of people out there who don't just listen to the music—they basically live and breathe it, operating like some kind of secret magic society just so they can stop talking about them altogether. Of course, only the true fanatics actually get what I’m laying down here, while the rest of you can keep yapping away all you want, though you probably haven't a clue what's actually going on...

But for those of you who actually *get* it, I’m asking you—please, just stop bringing them up on this forum. People are starting to latch onto them, and before you know it, you've got a massive wave of total misinterpretations spreading like wildfire, and the whole cycle just repeats itself endlessly...
If you absolutely insist on talking about them, then for heaven's sake, do us all a favor and actually explain the context first, because it’s such a damn shame when people miss the actual message playing in their headphones...

Thanks in advance, I guess.

see you on the other side...

Staring up at a sky absolutely choked with satellites and still, I can't get a single signal through.....

Seriously, is everyone just completely clueless here?
Or is what I'm asking just way too much for you guys to wrap your heads around?

p.s. And just so we're clear, the band isn't some kind of secret occult society if that's what you were thinking....

I feel compelled to offer a few thoughts on this matter. Allow me to pose a quick inquiry.

The band's "fanbase"? I say: think for yourselves. Question the status quo.

Misinterpretations? Again, question authority.

What is this obsession with mystification? This talk of some sort of secret society? If I wish to share my own experiences, I intend to do so clearly and loudly.

What kind of circle is being formed here? Did you manage to cultivate your own interpretations, or did you simply remain loyal to the good old F. Scott Fitzgerald? Truly. To be honest, I find it rather pointless to interpret songs—or rather, Maynard's thoughts—in such a one-dimensional way, as if there were only ever a single correct explanation.

Art is a deeply personal experience. I have no desire to have some sort of organized group commenting on my perception or dictating what I "should" be thinking.

PS: It seems self-evident to anyone with common sense that the band isn't named "magic," "secret," or anything of the sort...

Forgive me if I came across as a bit blunt; it only stings the first time 😛 😉 just kidding

urbanhawk15 is spot on. Personally, I'm not about lending out my CDs to anyone who isn't a die-hard fan of the band.

I’ve had it with prog-rock—honestly, just get it away from me... 😁

I mean... I always thought Pearl Jam sounded "mystical"—back in '95 they were mediocre, and now? They’re even worse... but hey, I clearly just don't get these "overly intellectual" bands...

Why not?
And how does it even make sense to lend a CD to a "long-time fan" if they already own it?

I've always loved sharing good stuff—whether it's music, books, or just life in general... honestly, I just like seeing people enjoy it.😛

😁

maquialdora said:People who listen—and I mean really listen, almost living inside what mere mortals call a band, this secret magic society—please, just stop talking about them. Real fans know exactly what I’m getting at, but the rest of you can talk all you want since you probably don't get it anyway.

For those of you who actually get it, please quit posting about them on this forum. People are starting to jump on the bandwagon, leading to endless wrong interpretations, and it just keeps spreading.
If you absolutely have to talk about them, please explain what's actually going on first. It’s such a shame when people miss the real message playing in their CD players.

Thanks in advance.

blah blah blah....................

What "magic society"? And why shouldn't we talk?

"it's such a shame when people miss the real message playing in their CD players"
🙄

So now it's a "shame" whether we tell people or not?

ps.
they aren't gods
and Maynard would be flipping burgers if he didn't have that voice
trust me....

Why don't you just join this secret magic society and see if you can actually handle the occult stuff without losing your mind, I'll initiate you myself and trust me you won't even know what hit you!

You might actually get a glimpse of some real mysticism 😁

By the way, the next Metallica album will probably be called St. Anger. Just something to think about.

So who even is this guy and what's his deal anyway?

The whole "think for yourself, question authority" vibe is basically just the mantra of Timothy O'Leary.

As for the guy mentioned above, my bad everyone, I’ve honestly never heard of him...
Is it maybe a woman?

Oh, wonderful... I guess we're all lining up to pledge allegiance to O'Leary now.

What’s next on the hit list—McLuhan???

Honestly, kids... you really ought to try reading an actual book once in a while... instead of just reciting quotes from them......

so, is it really such a huge tragedy if we tell people what's up or not?

ps.
they aren't gods or anything...
and honestly, Maynard would probably be flipping burgers at a McDonald's if he didn't have that massive platform he's got now
trust me on this one....

this guy again.
who on earth is out here rambling about gods and hamburgers?

look, if you're the type who's gonna borrow that one specific CD—which I clearly am, while you obviously aren't—then people are basically begging for a little guidance just so nobody totally misinterprets the whole thing and tosses it aside, because then you miss out on so much stuff...
there you go.

Seriously kids... you really ought to try reading actual books... instead of just throwing quotes around like they mean something...

Yeah, whatever.
I just grabbed that line (and honestly, who knows who else did) from some kid's backpack where she had it scribbled down, and later I found out it was actually that guy...
So yeah.
I liked it.
I can have whatever kind of signature I want, right?
And that's basically the whole story as far as I'm concerned...
