I was watching some old fights from the early 2000s last night, and it really hit me how much the pacing has changed. Back then, you’d see these grueling, technical battles where fighters just ground each other out over twenty-five minutes. It was a grind, sure, but there was a certain level of chess-like strategy involved.

Nowadays, it feels like everyone is just hunting for that one explosive moment to end it early. Don't get me wrong, a spectacular knockout is great for the highlights, but I find myself getting a bit bored when a fight fizzles out in the first few minutes. It feels less like a test of endurance and more like a high-stakes sprint. I miss the technical depth that comes when two athletes actually have to figure each other out over a long period.

Does anyone else feel like the obsession with the "early finish" is making the sport feel a bit shallow, or am I just being nostalgic for the old-school grinders?
