I was watching some old highlights last night and it really hit me how quickly the "era" of certain drivers comes and goes. It feels like just yesterday we were debating who the next big thing was, and now we're already talking about when the icons are going to hang it up for good.
I’ve always had mixed feelings about when a veteran decides to call it quits. On one hand, you want them to go out on top while they're still at the peak of their game. On the other hand, it’s kind of depressing to realize that the faces we grew up watching are actually reaching that finish line. It's a weird realization that the sport is constantly rotating through these cycles of greatness.
Do you think it's better for a driver to retire while they're still competitive, or should they push it until they're just struggling to keep up?
