Why is positional depth so much more obvious in certain divisions?

I was looking at some recent stats and rankings today, and it really got me thinking about how much a single division can dominate a specific statistical category. It’s crazy how you can have one group of players that just completely outclasses everyone else in the league for a specific role, while other divisions feel like they're just scraping by.

I remember back in the day, you could pretty much predict which teams would be heavy hitters just by looking at their roster construction. Now, it feels like it’s almost random, yet every once in a while, you see a cluster of talent in one specific geographic pocket that makes no sense on paper. It’s like they all happened to scout the same niche talent pool at the same time.

It makes me wonder if it's just pure luck with the draft, or if certain coaching staffs are just way better at developing these specific types of players. When one division holds a massive chunk of the "elite" tier for a position, does that actually change the competitive balance of the whole league, or is it just a statistical anomaly?

Do you guys think it's better for the league when talent is concentrated like that, or does it just make the playoffs more predictable?
