I feel like every year, the marketing for backyard gear gets more aggressive. It used to be that summer meant a few inflatable loungers and maybe a new set of floats, but now it feels like there’s a massive push to turn every backyard into a high-tech command center. I was looking at some tech upgrades recently and honestly, I’m starting to wonder if we're just buying ourselves more chores.
Last summer, I fell for the hype and bought a couple of those automated gadgets that were supposed to make maintenance "hands-off." Instead, I spent half my weekend troubleshooting Wi-Fi connections or clearing debris out of sensors that were supposed to be "smart." There’s a certain irony in spending a fortune on technology just to save ten minutes of manual work, only to end up staring at a smartphone screen instead of actually enjoying the water.
I’m curious if anyone else feels this way, or if I’m just being a Luddite. Do you think these high-end gadgets actually improve the experience, or are we just paying for the novelty of it all?
