I was thinking about this today while watching some highlights. It feels like we’re living in an era where player loyalty is basically a myth, and everything is just a constant cycle of short-term extensions and "new era" announcements.
Don't get me wrong, I love seeing a player commit to a team. It provides a sense of stability that fans crave, especially when the management seems to change every five minutes. There's something comforting about knowing the core group is staying put for another season or two.
But at the same time, I can't help but wonder if these one-year deals are becoming the standard because nobody wants to take a real risk anymore. It feels like everyone is just playing it safe, waiting to see if the next big thing comes along or if the club's budget suddenly vanishes. It makes the whole "club legend" concept feel almost impossible to achieve nowadays.
Do you guys think these short-term commitments actually help build team chemistry, or is it just a way to keep things predictable for the fans?
