I was looking through some old photos of my dad’s gear from back in the day, and it really hit me how much design philosophy has shifted. Everything now feels so sleek, minimal, and—if I’m being honest—a little bit sterile. We’re obsessed with "modernizing" everything, but sometimes that just feels like a way to strip away the soul of an object.
There’s something about those old-school aesthetics, with the bold patterns and specific logos that felt like they actually had some weight to them. I remember being obsessed with certain styles as a kid because they felt loud and proud. Now, it feels like everything is trying to be "premium" by being as plain as possible. I find myself constantly rooting for brands to just go back to the classics instead of trying to reinvent the wheel every single season.
Is it just me, or is the current trend toward minimalism actually making everything look a bit boring?
