I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the "superteam" mentality and whether it actually kills the soul of a franchise. There’s always that moment when a star player realizes they can either stay and build something meaningful from the ground up, or pack their bags to join a collection of legends and just hope the math works out.
Personally, I find it hard to respect the "sacrifice" narrative when it looks like a player is just jumping ship because they couldn't get their way with a specific trade. It feels less like building a dynasty and more like a temporary alliance of convenience. I remember watching old-school legends grind for years just to get one shot, and seeing players move around like chess pieces every few seasons makes the whole concept of "loyalty" feel like a joke.
Do you think a player's legacy is actually improved by joining a powerhouse, or do they just become a footnote in someone else's career?
