As long as people aren't jumping down throats, throwing personal insults, or intentionally derailing threads, we shouldn't have any issues. Everything else is fine by me... I mean, it's hard to imagine criteria being any more chill than this.

Banning isn't the move; just deleting the messy posts is a much better tool to use.

Though, if I had to take a quick look at the situation, I’d say maybe 90% of the drama on this forum comes from the fact that most people would rather pick a fight with lonetrucker4 than actually have a conversation.

I think we both know what I was getting at here. 🙂
I wasn't asking for special treatment from lonetrucker4, and I don't expect to get any. We agree on some things and clash on others.
This isn't the first thread where the concerned crowd has tried to unnecessarily kick lonetrucker4 to the curb, and I just couldn't sit there and stay quiet anymore.
The only reason I call him "Sharp" is because I think he's way too soft when it comes to policing the nonsense posted on this forum—but again, that's just my personal take.
Anyway, I'm done with this topic. I said what I needed to say, and my coffee is getting cold. 😉

It’s just... without any real reason at all...
I mean, how are we even supposed to label you then? Naive?

And you actually think you’ve read everything there is to read. Pure nonsense. Who even comes up with these paranoid theories? You read this stuff and realize just how naive you actually were.

Are you Buck?
Either you're just on duty, or what? Some kind of self-appointed life coach... basically just an idiot.Just to avoid any COVID conspiracies, keeping things strictly by the CDC playbook.
Reminds me of that one politician who poses for photos without a mask and then complains to the ER.
They should've just taken those Christmas cards at Minute Maid without the masks on.

What actually led to those anti-wax white mice:
Anti-vax propaganda is dead on arrival here. Don't even try to sneak it in through the back door; you'll just get banned, and probably pretty quickly. If you want to debate humanity, go find the fringe political boards.

Then you just kept trolling like nothing even happened. Purely unbothered.

It’s pretty obvious that aeromedicine is pure sci-fi to both of them—and honestly, probably to her too. Nicu
Pure idiocy, if you ask me.
Dennis Campbell4 is totally against the anti-vax crowd.
I need more content to work with. Please provide the posts you want me to rewrite. Nicu Solid breakdown and great moderation.

All we're missing is FrkaPeteski stepping in to explain how he accidentally signed some paperwork for Raphael. 😁

I’m chiming in here since your examples actually hit the mark. In the first case, IMO, they didn't cross the line, but the second one? Total violation.

The first post basically says: what you wrote is pure nonsense.

The second one says: you’re an idiot.

One’s a critique of the argument. The other’s a direct shot at the person.

You can live with the first one, but the second? Not in my book.

Anyway, looks like we’ve got a new janitor on the job. A change of pace is good, even if the old broom still works fine.

But this isn't about whether lonetrucker4 is a "good" or "bad" moderator. This is about the fact that concerned members finally feel heard. They've realized that they can't just spout toxic nonsense, jump down people's throats, label anyone who disagrees with them, or try to push the same tired arguments over and over again without getting shut down.
It wouldn't matter if any other moderator had stepped in and said "enough is enough."

First bold: What are you actually doing here? Honestly, what have you contributed to this thread besides "they signed the deal, I'm going to grab a drink while you guys suffer"? (Not literally, but close enough)

Second bold: Nonsense like "the CEO is installing a killswitch in the F-35 so we shouldn't buy them" hasn't bothered anyone until now.

Edit: Lately, I feel like I'm getting warnings almost exclusively from lonetrucker4. Some might be fair, others are just plain stupid. He does some things right, but he misses the mark on others.

Define "lately." 😛

Back on December 13, 2021, you caught a five-point strike for "don't escalate the argument."

The one before that, for insulting another user, was way back in August. That was for saying "your brain can't even wrap itself around this." Basically breaking the rule about attacking an idea instead of the actual person.

Out of the last ten warnings issued, eight or nine were yours. Some don't bother me, some seem pointless—whatever, I don't care.

Dennis Campbell4 said:A quick little preface here, since my attempts to get some clarity on how lonetrucker4 handles "moderation" keep getting wiped out...
So, I’m starting this thread to formally request that we strip lonetrucker4 of his moderator privileges. From what he’s told me himself, his idea of "moderating" is really just picking and choosing which rules to enforce based on his own whims... applying them partially, or even discriminatorily, depending on who he feels like targeting at any given moment.
In a previous thread about this very issue, Amanda Diaz told me point-blank that I hadn't provided enough evidence, and then she went ahead and locked the whole thing before I could even upload my files. I tried reaching out via DM to ask her about it, and then started this new thread to pose the question properly. Her response to my message was essentially a "no," and the original thread was deleted anyway...
It makes me wonder... why exactly are we allowing a "moderator" to stay in power when they won't even follow the community guidelines themselves?

It’s the same reason a President defends his cabinet.

When you complain about how a site is being run, you're just feeding their egos. They are just waiting for the chance to tell you why you're wrong in a debate they are already rigging.

The smartest move is to act like they don't exist and avoid contact whenever possible.

Fair point. Look, if we're just talking about 2021, I've dropped about 12 cards and one from Chuck. Most of my stuff was in that legendary "Future of High-End Audio" thread, where everyone constantly claims I'm either way too soft or way too harsh. Most are just little jabs—5 or 10 points here and there—just trolling or telling someone to drop it. Standard stuff in that thread. You’ve never even been banned. The people who actually get booted are the ones who ignore the warnings and just double down on being jerks.

Christian Torres3 and a few others have made a habit of talking down to people like that, so don't act surprised when they actually get slapped with a penalty.

Look, lonetrucker4, I’d tell you to hang in there, but it looks like you’re already hitting your limit. 😁
Good luck, and maybe try to stick around long enough to make it into the hall of fame.

Oh, for sure..
lonetrucker4 is easily the most controversial person on this board. Honestly, he’s probably driven more regulars away from this forum than anyone else in history.
I have absolutely no clue how the mods can just sit there and let him act like this... it makes zero sense to me.🤔

It’s in every single one of lonetrucker4's posts. The way he builds an argument? His endless patience? Pure gold. 🍿
We seriously need more mods like him on the other subforums.

The way he moderates without much principle has actually pushed away most of the people who were actually contributing anything useful.

On these subforums where things get heavy with politics, worldviews, or stuff like history and religion... I feel like a moderator should probably just stick to moderating. They shouldn't be jumping right into the middle of every debate, because then anyone with a different opinion ends up getting flagged, banned, or—even worse—having their posts deleted. It’s honestly pretty easy to play the provocateur when you hold the ban hammer.

Precisely.

Given the fact that you constantly drop links to tabloid rag sites—and frankly, some pretty far-right extremist pages—I find myself questioning whether you even possess the capacity to recognize substantive or constructive writing when you see it.

On these sub-forums influenced by politics, worldviews, or topics like history and religion... a moderator should act solely as a moderator. They shouldn't be jumping into the fray to argue their own points, only to then target anyone with an opposing view by policing them through selective enforcement, warnings, or—worst of all—deleting posts. It is far too easy to play the provocateur under the guise of authority.

Right...
The real issue here is that they can no longer celebrate extremists or spread disinformation quite like they did in the "good old days." That seems to be the crux of it.
As for you, lonetrucker4, you've looked the other way for him more times than I can count; you aren't being fair at all.

I'm not so sure about that. Personally, I think on the History board, it would be better if lonetrucker4 took a page out of Frogger's book.
Take the Science board, for instance. You could claim the Earth is a flat disc—but only twice. The first time, you get a heavy-handed warning; the second time, you're looking at a suspension. Then you can head over to the Conspiracy forums where your crowd hangs out in droves. Everyone wins.👍

Give me one or two shots straight to the solar plexus, please.
First off, I’ll say this: I am all for slapping sanctions on anyone trying to downplay the trauma this nation endured at the hands of that concentration camp, regardless of how many people actually died there—even if we're talking about a single guy who just slipped on some wet stairs at the guard tower, which, let's be honest, I don't know enough about to get into a heated debate over.

I’m genuinely curious, though—would history look at the lawyers who served Stalin’s regime in the exact same way? You know, by counting up the body count and claiming they were just exaggerating the massacres or those brutal conditions in the Gulags?

Of course they would. Why on earth would you think otherwise?
