Is it just me, or is there a specific kind of mental fatigue that hits when you've been doing the same high-stakes grind for two decades?

I was watching a documentary about some old-school pros the other day, and it got me thinking about that tipping point. You know the one. You've built a massive legacy, you've proven everything there is to prove, and suddenly the "just one more" internal monologue starts playing on loop. It's such a heavy psychological battle.

In my own life, I've had those moments where I felt like I should walk away from a project or a career path just to preserve my sanity, but then someone close to me—a partner or a parent—says exactly what I need to hear to keep going. It's crazy how much influence the people in our inner circle have over our most professional, "tough guy" decisions. Sometimes you need that outside perspective to realize you still have a little gas left in the tank, and other times, they're the ones giving you the permission to finally hang it up.

Do you think people in high-pressure careers should rely on their families to make those "stay or go" calls, or should that be a strictly solo decision?
