Windows 10 internet connection issues

Hey everyone. So, I’ve got Windows 10 running on my laptop, and I’m using a mobile data dongle from Verizon to get online. Here’s the headache: every single time I boot up the OS, it just jumps straight onto the internet without asking me. Back when I was rocking Windows 8.1, this wasn't an issue at all. I used to be able to use the Verizon connection manager to decide exactly when I wanted to hop online or cut the link. Now? Even if I go into the management software and hit "disconnect," the thing drops for maybe two seconds before aggressively reconnecting itself.
When I try to toggle the "metered connection" setting in the connection options, it’s totally grayed out—I can't even click it. Honestly, I've been losing my mind digging through every setting imaginable, and I'm getting nowhere. Does anyone know a way to fix this?

I ran into a pretty similar issue when I was using a mobile hotspot dongle, but it's actually a quick fix.
First, grab a utility to tidy up your system; I usually just stick with CCleaner https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
. Once that's done, just head into your startup tools and disable the mobile internet connection from launching automatically when you boot up. That should do the trick.

There's actually a built-in tool in Windows called MSConfig for this.

You can actually just handle that through the Task Manager too, you know?☕

Neither MSConfig nor even Task Manager can find an internet manager in the startup list 🙂
