There is nothing quite as soul-crushing as watching a team play absolute fundamental baseball for eight innings, only to have the momentum vanish because of a single injury or a bad bounce. I’ve been following my local squad for years, and it feels like every time we actually start to build some real synergy, the universe decides to throw a wrench in the gears. It’s that constant cycle of "we're finally getting it together" followed immediately by "wait, now our best player is limping off the field."
It really makes you wonder about the mental toughness required to stay invested. When you're riding a winning streak and everything feels electric, it’s easy to be a fan. But when you see a game slip away or a season potentially derail because of something entirely out of the players' control, it's hard not to get cynical. You start questioning if the front office is actually building for longevity or just chasing these small, fleeting bursts of excitement.
Do you guys think it's better to stay optimistic during these streaks, or is it healthier to just expect the inevitable collapse so you aren't disappointed?
