I was scrolling through some gear reveals earlier today and I honestly had to do a double-take. It feels like every single season, the jerseys get more cluttered. It used to be a clean design with one main logo, maybe a small manufacturer mark, and that was it. Now, it’s starting to look like a walking billboard or a collage of stickers.
I get the logic behind it—teams need the cash, and the business side of sports is massive—but at what point does it just become eyesore? I actually miss the days when you could look at a kit and actually see the colors and the pattern of the fabric without being blinded by fifty different corporate logos. It feels like we're losing the "soul" of the kit in exchange for a few extra bucks in a sponsorship deal.
Do you guys think there's a limit to how much branding a piece of clothing can take before it stops being a jersey and just becomes an advertisement?
