I am in urgent need of some assistance, please

I recently moved about 20GB of photos from my computer onto DVDs. At the time, I was running Windows XP, but since then, I have upgraded my operating system to Windows 7. Now, when I insert a DVD into my computer or laptop, the system recognizes the disc and can see the image files, but an error occurs whenever I attempt to open them
"windows photo viewer cant open this picture because either photo viewer doesnt support this file format, or you dont have the latest updates to photo viewer"

I have already tried to upgrade Viewer, and I even attempted to reinstall Picasa since that worked perfectly for me in the past, but nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated... 😕 😠 😢 🙂

What's the exact image format here? I need all the specifics—dimensions, file types, versions...

Maybe this little tool might be worth a look for them...

They are JPEG files, with an average size of about 1500 KB per image...

Then something went sideways with the DVD media. It was either burned incorrectly from the start or just poor quality, so it became unreadable pretty fast.

At best, you could try running some image repair software—maybe then you'll manage to salvage a few photos.

Try moving them to a hard drive and uploading one to somewhere like Facebook or Imgur... see if it actually works there.

I already tried that, but still nothing. Does anyone know of a data recovery firm that might be able to help me get my files back?
