I've got these two movies sitting in DVD format (those VOB files...) and they're both hovering right around 2.4 GB each.
Is there any way I can squeeze both of those onto a single DVD?
If that's actually doable, what kind of software should I be looking at to make it happen?

If you're hoping to keep the exact same menu layouts from both DVDs, I'm afraid that just isn't an option.
What you could do—and this is where it gets interesting—is either build a brand-new menu from scratch or simply go without one entirely!
You can pull that off using pretty much any DVD creation software out there; personally, my go-to tool is usually
Windows Movie Maker. Now, keep in mind that it isn't free, but hey, I'm sure you can figure it out—you've got this! Besides, there are a million tutorials on YouTube if you ever get stuck.

Nah, it doesn't have to be the exact same one I'm using. Does anyone know of anything else besides Windows Movie Maker, maybe something that's actually pretty straightforward to figure out?

If I recall correctly, the go-to tool for that would be one of those old-school favorites that used to be everywhere, "DVD Shrink"

It really can’t be any easier once you get the hang of it—honestly! But hey, there is certainly a massive mountain of other software out there for making DVDs.
You could always go the free route with stuff like Format Factory, Handbrake, or even DVD Video Studio. If you're looking to spend some actual cash, though, you've got options like Nero Vision, PowerDirector, Corel VideoStudio, Sony Vegas Architect Studio, Pinnacle... or, I don't know, just type "DVD creator" into Google and see what pops up!
But let's be real—if you've never messed around with this kind of thing before, every single program is going to feel like a total headache until you finally figure out how it works, right?

The Freemake suite (4K Video Downloader, YouTube mp3 converter, Audacity, and HandBrake) — honestly, you probably won't find anything simpler than this... 😬
