I’ve been thinking a lot lately about that old saying about never meeting your heroes. It’s easy to build up these untouchable personas in our heads—people who seem to exist on a completely different plane of reality because of what they’ve achieved. We consume their highlights, their interviews, and their public personas until they feel like old friends, but there's always that massive gap between the legend and the actual human being.

I had a weird experience a few years ago where I ran into someone I'd followed for a decade. I expected this profound, life-changing moment, but instead, it was just... a person. They were perfectly fine, but the "spark" I had spent years cultivating in my mind just evaporated instantly. It wasn't that they were bad, it was just that the myth died, and I didn't know how to deal with the reality of them.

Do you think the "aura" of greatness is something that can only exist if we keep our distance, or is it possible to actually connect with high-achievers without losing that sense of awe?
