I was at a match a few weeks ago, and honestly, the vibe was just off. It wasn't even about the game itself, but the stuff happening in the stands. It feels like every time I turn on the TV or head to a local ground, there’s some new incident involving people being targeted for who they are. It’s getting harder to ignore, and it’s definitely not just my imagination.
I used to love the raw energy of a crowd, but lately, that energy feels increasingly aggressive and pointed. There’s a fine line between "passionate fan noise" and just being a straight-up jerk to people, and it feels like that line is being crossed more often than not. It's frustrating because it ruins the experience for everyone, especially the people who are just trying to enjoy the sport without being harassed.
It feels like the current "slap on the wrist" approach isn't doing anything to actually change the culture. If the people causing these issues don't face real consequences, what's stopping it from becoming the norm? Do you guys think the governing bodies are actually doing enough to clean up the stands, or are they just playing catch-up?
