I was watching some of the coverage from earlier today and it got me thinking about how much the atmosphere of these big international events has shifted. It used to feel like the whole country was collectively holding its breath for a single moment, but now with so many different streams and constant updates, it feels much more fragmented.
Don't get me wrong, seeing athletes reach the podium is always incredible, and you can feel that surge of pride when a local hero pulls off something massive. But I find myself wondering if the "magic" of the underdog story is getting diluted because we're constantly bombarded with results in real-time. It’s hard to build up that tension when you see a score flash on your phone before the athlete even finishes their routine.
Do you guys think the constant digital connectivity makes these big sporting milestones feel more or less impactful than they used to be?
