I’ve been watching a lot of roster moves lately, and it really makes me wonder about the people behind the scenes. We always talk about the coaches or the star players, but the administrative side of major programs seems like a total grind.

It feels like these roles are becoming increasingly high-pressure. You’re constantly balancing the books, managing egos, and trying to keep a massive organization moving forward, all while being one bad season away from being the scapegoat. I had a buddy who worked in high-level sports management for a few years, and he said the burnout was real. The mental toll of being the guy responsible for the "infrastructure" while the spotlight stays on the field is massive.

Sometimes it seems like the smartest move is just to walk away while you're still respected, rather than waiting for the inevitable fallout.

Do you think these types of leadership roles are becoming more volatile, or is it just the nature of the job?
