Why was I banned from the "War in Ukraine" thread?

About a week ago, I was banned from the "War in Ukraine" subforum, and for some reason, I can't seem to start a thread in the "Banned Users Corner," so I’m putting my question here instead.

In the "War in Ukraine" section, the reason given for the ban was something along the lines of "trolling regarding Ukraine."

My question is this: what exactly was the reason for my ban?

I don't believe I insulted anyone or acted provocatively; if anything, my posts were substantive and detailed, providing answers to a whole host of related questions.

The moderator wiped all my content, and as far as I can tell, I'm the only one who received a ban from that specific subforum.

Meanwhile, people posting things like:
"Putin just woke up on the wrong side of the bed and decided to invade"
or anyone else who holds a differing opinion and gets labeled a mercenary or a Russian sympathizer—even those criticizing the U.S. President—are still allowed on the forum without any bans or sanctions whatsoever.

The moderator's bias toward one side of the argument is blatant, but I am still shocked by the level of enforcement used just to ensure only one side of the story survives, especially when a recent poll showed that 58% of Americans oppose training Ukrainians in the States.

If there was one specific post that triggered my ban, I would kindly ask that it be posted here along with a brief explanation.

I’m not even tripping about what you actually wrote, but you totally derailed the "sanctions on Russia" thread into some weird off-topic mess—and naturally, the usual pro-Ukraine crowd jumped all over it. Take a look here.

Well, yes, it drifted slightly off-topic, but then we have the exact same culprits—including five or six other users who quoted me just to keep that same line of thought going (referencing that "pro-Ukraine brigade" you mentioned earlier).

My actual question remains unchanged: why does this subforum function like such an echo chamber, and why am I being branded as a troll?

I just skimmed through the other thread titles here, and it seems I'm certainly not the only one asking this... it's quite sad, really.

They should, but they don't because they hold the majority. The issue is these debates always end up running in circles—eventually, you just get threads filled with nothing but insults and bickering. It usually gets handled the easy way since, let's face it, even admins have actual lives to lead.

Personally, all I care about is the off-topic stuff cluttering the "sanctions on Russia" thread. We rarely get any actual substance regarding the sanctions themselves anyway. It wasn't completely off-topic, but it wasn't exactly focused either. There’s a general lounge for general chatter.

Anyway, don't let them bait you—just stick to the topic. Even I catch bans sometimes, but that's only because I'm the one throwing insults, which is against the rules.
