Hey, I’m on the hunt for a new laptop. The one I’ve been lugging around is basically on its deathbed—constant update prompts and nothing but lag. It’s definitely time to upgrade to something with more memory and a bigger screen.
Can anyone give me some pointers? What should I actually be looking for? Which brands have actually been decent lately? How much RAM am I talking about here, and what kind of GPU do I need?
I spend my time working in AutoCAD, Revit, and Max. I know those programs demand specific specs when it comes to memory and graphics, but honestly, I don't have a clue what the exact sweet spot is.🤔
If there's a kind soul out there who can point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it.

Ever since they rolled out that whole "last OS ever" nonsense with Windows 10, followed by Windows 11, it feels like we're stuck in a loop of constant updates. Honestly? It’s not even about how old your gear is or if it’s actually powerful enough. It just feels like the industry wants to squeeze us into buying new hardware by slapping on restrictions, even when the new stuff performs just like what we already have.

Anyway, what kind of budget are we looking at here? What's the screen size? Maybe give us the lowdown on what you're currently running on.

My current 15.6" screen gets me by, I guess, but if I’m actually dropping money on a new rig, why settle? I’d definitely go bigger next time.
Budget is around $1,500.
Right now, I'm stuck working on an HP.

I guess you should check under the Hardware subforum, then look for Laptops. More people might actually see your thread there.
