I noticed the ban corner has been trimmed down to just five pages, which leads me to believe my own ban—from late 2015 or early 2016, right around the peak of the refugee crisis or shortly after—was swept away during the recent post deletions. I’m hoping the moderators can still dig this up from some archive somewhere; now that the dust has settled, nobody would actually ban me for what I posted back when I used this handle on the Politics subreddit (unless, of course, a moderator just happens to have a personal grudge against this username :zubo: ).
To give some context, I rarely ever used this specific handle over on the Politics subreddit, so when I finally did post something there, I was hit with a permanent ban policy simply because someone recognized the username as being "unusual" for that sub. It felt pretty unjustified to me, considering I wasn't even using an alt account on that specific thread!
So, the "reasoning" back then was essentially that in the heated, high-tension atmosphere of late 2015 or early 2016, there was a lot of pressure to permanently ban anyone who didn't want to be associated with a certain handle on the Politics subreddit. But looking at how things have calmed down and how everyone's perspectives have shifted since then, I think you'll agree it makes sense to lift the ban.
