Buy new ink or just a new printer? (Home use)

I’ve been using an HP Envy 5525, and honestly, I am completely fed up with throwing money away on ink. I just dropped over $20 on cartridges less than a month ago, and now I’m already staring down the barrel of buying another set.
The whole thing is a headache because if even one of those four cartridges acts up, the entire machine refuses to work. All four have to be perfect, and sure enough, one of them always decides to quit right when you need it.

So, I’ve been looking at this HP DeskJet 2720. $127It’s actually on sale right now, and I could even grab it with some financing options.

My needs are pretty basic: printing documents, the occasional essay or text, maybe a photo here and there, plus scanning—basically, I just need something reliable sitting on my desk. This one has Wi-Fi too, which is a plus.

Does it make sense to just pull the trigger? It feels smarter to invest in a new unit—especially since this one only uses black and color cartridges—rather than wasting another hundred bucks today, only to be hit with another hundred soon after. What’s the point in continuing this cycle? 🤷

If you go with that one for $127, you’ll probably just end up bleeding money for $33 ink over and over again. It’s an old rule—cheap printers mean expensive ink. And you want a scanner too, right?
If you're printing a lot, it's actually smarter to just drop the cash on a better machine upfront. Like an Epson EcoTank. I have an Epson EcoTank that cost me $833, and a single set of ink lets me churn out a mountain of photos.

Supposedly it comes with enough ink to last for about 3 years, though some places say 2.
Does that sound about right? We don't really print that much anyway.

Look, you get a decent amount of ink in the tank. Either way, it beats those cheap cartridges that come with standard printers—those things barely last a hundred pages before they're bone dry.

The printer comes with ink bottles included—at least, that’s how my setup arrived—so you’ve got full capacity right out of the gate for a few thousand pages.

So, can you guys help me out with some printer recommendations for my place? I was leaning towards grabbing a laser printer—just thinking out loud here—but now I’m second-guessing myself big time! Like, should I just stick to black and white, or is color actually worth the headache? I definitely need something with Wi-Fi, and if it’s a multi-function thing with duplex printing, even better—not that I'm super picky about the duplex part, haha.
