Hey there, good people!

So, I just got this laptop sent over from Ireland, and the power cord is one of those three-prong ones. I know I’ll eventually need to grab a specific adapter for US outlets, but honestly, I can't really get out to buy anything right now with the holidays going on.

The laptop itself is a Dell. Here’s my question: I’ve got this other laptop, a Lenovo, and I was wondering if I could just use its cable with the Dell's power brick? I'm talking specifically about the cord that plugs into the adapter on one end and goes into the wall socket on the other.

It’s not a three-prong cable; it's just a plug designed for a different outlet type (UK style).
Sure, you can use any standard cable if we're talking about the basic ones—the kind with those three round pins that plug into the adapter or charger, the so-called Mickey Mouse type.

Honestly, it's easier to just grab a replacement cable or use one you already have than to deal with carrying an adapter everywhere.

A three-phase cable is going to have five wires—you've got your three phases (R, S, T), plus the neutral (N) and the ground (GND).
It’s more likely you're looking at a standard single-phase outlet (three wires total), which is just one phase, the neutral, and the ground.

Thanks! I just need it for a bit, honestly. I’m heading out next week to grab a cable for my new laptop anyway. I think it'll run me about 30 bucks or so.
