Hey everyone. I'm pretty much a rookie when it comes to running a CNC mill. So far, I've mostly stuck to 2D cutting and some basic 3D modeling—though honestly, most people call it 2.5D since the bottom stays flat—based on existing photos. For my 2D stuff, I’ve been using Rhino to do the drawing, saving it as a .dxf, then pulling it into ArtCAM to generate the .tap or the toolpath for the machine.
Here's the question: Does anyone actually know how to take a 3D design made in Rhino and turn it into a .tap file? And more importantly, which software should I even be using?
I already tried the advice of saving the drawing as an .stl or stereolithography file and opening it in ArtCAM, but that was a total bust. It didn't work at all.
