I’m feeling a bit stuck on what to pick, so I was hoping some of you guys could weigh in and help me make a call.

Which processor actually holds more weight here: a Ryzen 5 (6 core) or an Intel Core i7 2700x (8 core)?

And when it comes to GPUs, I’m torn between an NVIDIA GTX 1650 super (4 GB) and a Sapphire Radeon RX 5500XT (8GB).

The price is basically the same for both sets, but I’m just not sure... is that Intel Core i7 really going to outperform the 5? Also, is Sapphire a solid brand to go with, and does the RX 5500 pull ahead of the 1650?

Oh, and one more thing—will a 550 watt power supply be enough to handle this setup? The manufacturer suggests 450 watts for the card, and the CPU pulls somewhere around 100-120 watts, right?

Thanks for the help.

Better in what way? What would you even use a PC like this for?

It wouldn't give you an edge in gaming, especially with that GPU. You might see some benefits in specific productivity tasks, though.

In terms of gaming, you aren't seeing any real gains here, especially not with that specific GPU. You might see some perks if you were doing actual productivity work, I guess.

I totally forgot to mention I'm talking about a PC. It’d mostly be for gaming at up to 1080p, and honestly, I wouldn't even touch overclocking. These GPUs are really the only ones that fit my budget right now, but I'm stuck wondering if grabbing that Radeon RX 5500 with 8 GB is actually worth it. Both cards are priced basically the same, which is why I'm hesitating so much over the GTX 1650 super.

It would be most prudent to adjust the rest of your build to accommodate an RTX 3060 (roughly $667). For the processor, I would suggest opting for a Ryzen 5 5600 or perhaps an even more budget-friendly Core i3-12100f. In the realm of gaming, the graphics card remains your most critical component; after all, even a card like the 1660 Super isn't exactly a powerhouse when it comes to modern, high-demand titles or pushing maximum settings at 1080p
