Greetings.

I am looking to put together a new computer for an elderly relative. Their usage is strictly limited to web browsing, watching YouTube, and basic Office tasks.
Could someone assist me with a build configuration that stays within a budget of $833?
The one non-negotiable requirement is that the system must include an SSD.

Does he need a monitor and other peripherals too?

From what I can tell, you can't find the Ryzen 3 2200G or 3200G as standalone parts anymore. Man, those were the days—it feels like we might be heading toward another hardware shortage. It might actually be smarter to look at pre-built setups from shops that know how to put a decent system together (like Best Buy or Micro Center). Alternatively, you could build something around an Athlon 3000G if you want something entry-level, or go with an Intel Core i3-10100 if you want more muscle.

Keep in mind, this one comes with the monitor included.

The only real question is whether 240GB is enough storage (especially if he’s hoarding movies and stuff). But honestly, adding another drive later is a breeze.

My apologies, I neglected to mention that the monitor and other peripherals aren't required; he'll just be repurposing what he already has from his old rig.
Furthermore, there's absolutely no need for a massive hard drive since he isn't some collector hoarding multimedia files on a disk.

Thanks!

If it isn't too much trouble, could you also suggest something based on AMD?

At this price point, AMD doesn't really have anything to offer. The i3 gives you 4 cores and 8 threads, which is hard to beat. Unless you step up to the 2700 or $933 then you could look at an AMD 3400G

I really appreciate the help!

The 3400G might hold its own better on graphics, but honestly, it’s nothing special. If you aren't planning on gaming, just grab the i3. Much better value for the money
