USB sound card or headset?

Hey there,
From what I understand, if you're using a USB sound card (like a headset), you can just toggle between your speakers and the USB headset really quickly through the Windows taskbar, right? But with those old-school 3.5mm headsets, you basically have to physically plug them in whenever you want to use them, and once they're in, they just stay active until you unplug them, correct?

I also had another thought. Take a headset like the Razer BlackShark V2—it comes with its own USB sound card (see the pic > https://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress...640&height=480). When those specific headphones are plugged in via the USB, Windows recognizes them by their full name, "Razer BlackShark V2." But if I were to take a completely different pair of headphones and plug them into that same Razer BlackShark V2 USB card, would Windows still show the name as "Razer BlackShark V2" in the settings?

1. Is your headset connected via USB or those dual 3.5mm jacks? You can swap between different devices right from the macOS Menu Bar.
If you're already using Speakers, I'm guessing you're running HD Audio through the case front panel. Or maybe you've got multiple channels plugged directly into the motherboard?

2. It’ll probably just show up as Logitech. I use a USB sound card, and regardless of what I plug into it—even if it's my headset—it always shows the same damn name (USB Advanced Audio Device).
It's all just plug & Play and generic drivers.
