I picked up an HP 15-dw0084nm about two months ago and did a clean install of Windows 10 myself. From day one, the WiFi has been a total disaster. I installed the drivers directly from the manufacturer, messed around with all the power management settings—basically tried everything
imaginable to fix it—but absolutely nothing worked. Eventually, I just bought a USB WiFi dongle, and—lo and behold—everything worked fine. Well, now that little thing decided to die on me.

The router is upstairs, but I have a WiFi extender plugged in literally a foot away from the laptop. Even then, the signal strength is non-existent; it’s spotty at best, constantly dropping, or just slow enough to drive me insane. If I move even five feet away from the laptop, I might as well forget about being online because the network doesn't even show up. Meanwhile, my old Dell from maybe eight years ago works perfectly fine with a full signal, yet this one is driving me crazy.

Should I send it in for service? Or maybe just buy a different internal WiFi card?

I'm open to suggestions, because honestly, I'm getting close to just tossing the whole thing in the trash.😠

Try calling up the HP service center where you picked up that notebook.

HP laptops are notorious for having interference issues between their WiFi and Bluetooth adapters. On these machines, the modules are usually packed right next to each other—so if you're running both at once, the connection suffers and starts dropping constantly. If you just kill the Bluetooth, the issue should vanish. This actually explains why my external USB dongle worked perfectly fine—it was physically far enough away from the Bluetooth module to avoid the mess.

It depends. With the old stuff, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G all shared the same Intel Gobo module, so you could run everything at once without a hitch.

I guess they just decided to cut corners on the hardware to boost the bottom line.
