Laptop keyboard not responding

So, I fire up my laptop, the desktop loads and all the icons are there, but the keyboard and touchpad are basically paperweights.
When I booted it up, some message popped up saying certain updates were wiped, but honestly, I don't remember the rest of the details.
The thing is, this laptop is about four and a half years old and it’s still running macOS from back in 2007.😬
That might be part of the issue, but everything was working perfectly fine until yesterday.
What am I supposed to do now?

- Try plugging in an external keyboard and see if that works.
- Use your mouse to check Device Manager; see if the keyboard actually shows up there.
