Which PC should I get? Need some help!

I've finally decided it's time to pull the trigger on a new PC.

If anyone could offer some advice, what would you recommend?





What I really need is a fast machine—something that can handle a massive amount of browser tabs, Microsoft Word, and photo editing... without breaking a sweat. Ideally, I want it to stay relevant for at least another 4 or 5 years.

Gaming? Nothing too intense... just an NFL head coach sim and the NBA, that's about it.

Drop a line over in the desktop PC section.. ahead and start a thread there, because honestly, these pre-built setups aren't exactly impressive. They don't even list the motherboard model or what kind of power supply you're actually getting. 🤦Personally, I've always felt that buying a pre-built computer is usually a bad move..

These prices are honestly ridiculous 😵 I suppose you could probably find a better deal somewhere else if you looked hard enough.

I actually picked up one of these exact setups from a local Best Buy a while back for some office work—basically just needed it to run my security camera feeds and manage one specific device—and honestly, for that kind of stuff, it worked pretty damn well.

Honestly, I don't care whose name is on the box—both of these builds are way overpriced. The real kicker? They’d still be a total rip-off even if they cost $667 less. I have no clue how they justify these prices for hardware that’s basically three years old at this point.

People don't realize how much the hardware and software markets rely on users who can't build their own rigs. They just buy whatever's sitting on the shelf at the local Best Buy or wherever they've shopped before. It's understandable. There’s no roadmap provided—no info on how to handle repairs, warranty claims, or customer support if things go south. With a Lennel computer, you know it works and you know you can actually get it serviced under warranty.
Basically, the market splits into two groups: people who wing it and live dangerously, and people who don't care because tech isn't their job.

Not to mention most people, even those with a passing interest in hardware, have zero clue what kind of support, warranty, or compatibility issues they'll face with a custom build.
Retailers get orders for "5 decent office PCs" or some specific niche request, and then they make a killing on absurdly bad configurations.

And don't even get me started on the margins they pull from selling McAfee licenses and stuff like that. 😁

That's why OEM computers exist. That's exactly why these OEM machines exist. 😁
