I happened to stumble upon this YouTube link featuring some truly wonderful relaxing music presented in a video format, but I am quite keen on downloading the audio as an MP3 instead.
I have already attempted to use about ten different YouTube converter tools, but I’ve had absolutely no luck whatsoever; every single one of them simply returns some sort of error message.
Does anyone happen to know a reliable way to get this downloaded?

Honestly, most audio software that comes bundled with your sound card or interface usually includes a built-in sound recorder, so you can just fire that up, hit record, and let the YouTube video play from start to finish to capture the audio directly without even needing to download anything.

If the recording ends up in a raw format like a .wav file, you'll just need to run it through a quick converter to turn it into an MP3.

That might be your easiest bet, especially since those online tools are being such a headache for you right now.

Look, Mr. Thompson, I am well aware of that direct recording method you mentioned, but frankly, that isn't quite my style; I would much rather just download the video directly as an MP3 file.

I've messed around with a few different sites, and honestly, it’s such a pain because that six-hour wait is just brutal... plus, some of them cap you at a 2GB file limit, which doesn't help much at all.

I guess they usually have a one-hour time limit...

If you happen to be rocking an Android phone or maybe an Android TV box,
you should definitely grab the Snaptube app—it lets you download whatever you want from YouTube in just about any format you can dream up!
Just a little heads-up though—don't bother searching for it on the Google Play Store, because you won't find it there; instead, head over to the Aptoide app to get it installed.

Is recording it actually giving you that much trouble???

It sounds like you're just downloading an .mp4 container and renaming it to .mp3... honestly, it's like trying to order a steak at a diner and expecting it to be a burger just because you asked for it that way.

If that's becoming such a massive headache for you, just download the .mp4 normally and then find a decent program to export the audio, kind of like using Adobe Audition.

I mean, if it isn’t meant for downloading, then what on earth is the point of YouTube anyway?
Up until now, I’ve successfully downloaded what feels like a million music videos from there—both MP4 and MP3 formats—without a single hiccup.
But that’s exactly why I’m turning to you all for a bit of guidance; for some reason, this time around, it just refuses to download.

I mean, you’re basically just grabbing an .mp4 container and renaming it to .mp3... I guess there isn't much else to say about that, since you can pretty much order whatever you want from a custom shop if you have the choice.

If that’s already turning into such a massive headache for you, maybe you could just download the .mp4 file instead and then find some software to export the audio, like Adobe Audition, for example.

It looks like this might be some kind of HTML5 video, which is somewhat similar to Matroska. The audio would probably be Ogg Vorbis.

Try demuxing and converting.

I've personally downloaded like a million music videos from there over the years, usually in Mp4 or Mp3, and it’s always been a breeze.
But that’s exactly why I’m reaching out to you guys for a hand, because for some reason, it just won't let me grab this one today.

Haha, you actually gave me a good laugh there... in a great way, you're a total nut job! 🙂

So, how have you been pulling those downloads off in the past, and which specific program were you using?

When one considers tools like the YouTube downloader, or perhaps the YouTube downloader specifically known as YouTube downloader, and so on, and so forth...

Use ClipGrab. You can just grab the MP3 directly.

Honestly, you probably just need to grab the latest version of the software, and that should fix everything right up. If a simple update doesn't do the trick, I’ve found that completely wiping the old version off your hard drive and doing a totally fresh install usually solves the headache.

If an update isn't available just yet, hang tight, because the developers are likely already working on it once they catch onto whatever new direct-download link loop YouTube has thrown at them.

The whole reason we even have to deal with these updates in the first place is because of those occasional changes to the hotlinks; that's the main reason why downloads suddenly stop working after a while.

***
ps: YouTube periodically swaps out those links specifically to mess with these programs, mostly because they don't want people downloading content for free—if everyone could just save videos, they'd have to worry about paying massive amounts for webcasting DRM rights and physical distribution, which would cost them a fortune. But, seeing how slow they are to actually change things, I'm not complaining one bit.

Anyone actually know how to grab these...

Just use 4K Video Downloader... honestly don't think anything beats it.👍
It lets you encode everything straight to MP3 if that's what you're after...
