Maria Fowler39 said:Look, the whole point is that every kid should reach their own potential—not some arbitrary total sum of curriculum. It’s up to society to make room for everyone because we need all kinds of people, not just to hype up the Stemmatic crowd while treating everyone else like absolute garbage. Honestly, this society is pretty messed up...

I’d love for our dear lady here to actually point to where anyone called non-STEM folks "absolute garbage" or anything remotely close to it.

If she truly believes that cramming history or geography in school opens as many doors for a kid's future as mastering fractions, percentages, interest rates, or physics—you know, actual science that helps them grasp how the world works, anatomy, and all that good stuff (basically STEM)—then hey, that's her prerogative.

But, if I don't share that opinion, I’m not going to sit here and let her twist my words to make it sound like I ever said—or even thought—that teachers in those other subjects were garbage.

Otherwise, I think she owes a public apology for putting words in the mouths of other members just to try and discredit them.

And if she won't apologize, then someone should probably step in and handle this.

Thanks!

Jerry Campbell23 I guess I should probably mention what Charles Fox10 said:
I’d appreciate it if the lady would please point out exactly where anyone called people outside of STEM "useless pieces of crap" or anything remotely like that.

If our esteemed forum lady wants to argue that grinding through subjects like history and geography is just as vital for a student's future as mastering fractions, percentages, interest rates, or physics—you know, the whole STEM spectrum that actually helps kids make sense of how the world works—including stuff like human anatomy and all that... well, I guess that’s her prerogative.

Look, if I don't agree with her, I’m not going to sit here and let her put words in my mouth—not about anything I've ever said, and certainly not about whether or not I ever thought those teachers were actually qualified to teach their subjects. Pure garbage..

Otherwise, I think there needs to be a public apology here. Someone shouldn't be putting words in other members' mouths just because they don't agree with them, especially when the whole goal seems to be nothing more than trying to discredit people.

If she’s just going to refuse to cooperate, then I guess someone should at least step in and slap some sanctions on her for this.

Thanks!

I have absolutely no intention of apologizing, mostly because I wasn't even talking about your posts. To be honest, I haven't really been reading them for a while now; I just figure if someone is actually breaking the rules, someone else will report it. My comments were actually aimed at the Secretary's current stance, not you. So, I don't really owe you an apology at all. If my moderators decide one of my posts warrants a penalty, they’re free to do what they need to do—I honestly don't care. It's just kind of funny how you managed to take my post so personally.🤣

Reading comprehension is something you learn back in elementary school, not on an internet forum. ☕

Can someone please lock this thread? These kinds of complaints are completely pointless.

If she actually believes that just memorizing stuff like history or geography in school is just as vital for a kid's future as mastering fractions, percentages, interest rates, physics, anatomy, or anything else that helps them actually make sense of the world—basically all the STEM stuff—then hey, that's her prerogative.

Huh. I usually stay out of these fights, but since you're coming for my history books—or "historical science," if we're being fancy—it's pretty clear that by saying history and geography are just mindless rote memorization and don't help kids "understand the world," you're basically implying the people who study them are worthless garbage.
