My WiFi just gave up on me after only six months. It won't connect to anything—not even my phone's hotspot.
I've tried everything from messing with drivers to a full Windows reinstall.
The local repair shop is unavailable at the moment.

I guess I'm curious if anyone else has run into similar issues with their HP.

I don't have that specific Dell G-Series Gaming Laptop myself, but you didn't mention if the WiFi adapter even shows up in your Device Manager. Like, check your control panel—is the WiFi actually turned on? Is there even a WiFi icon sitting in your taskbar down at the bottom?

Yeah, I have it. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, but...
fixed it by using a TP-LINK Archer T4U AC1300

now I'm heading to the repair shop.
