Liam Neeson👍 This one actually looks worth your time!

It feels like Liam Neeson has found his specific groove lately—he just picks a formula and runs with it...

It’s honestly wild to think about—we have an actor with the kind of range you just don't see every day, yet there's this looming possibility that Liam Neeson will ultimately just be remembered as the guy from those cheap B-movie thrillers like Death Wish.
It’s kind of like how people look at Robert De Niro these days—everyone just associates him with those comedy roles now.

Neeson brings this weirdly warm, human touch to his serial killer roles—it’s almost charming how much you actually enjoy watching him stack up the bodies.
Have you guys noticed that little sympathetic look he gets on his face right when he’s choking someone out? It’s like—he genuinely thinks he’s finished the job, but then the guy twitches, realizes he's still breathing, and Liam just has to go back in and finish the business... :-)

I'll give this one a watch.👍

Didn't Neeson say just a few years ago that he was done with action movies?

Honestly, if you ask me, Liam Neeson could basically ride this wave until he retires. Even if he only lands a solid hit every third or fourth movie, I’m totally fine with that. As long as he occasionally drops a genuinely great flick—like A Walk Among the Tombstones, which was killer but way too underrated—it’s all good in my book.

Looking at the trailer, I don't know... it feels like a bit of a departure from his usual style. It’s giving me those Guy Ritchie vibes, you know? Maybe the trailer is just playing tricks on us, though.

I mean, honestly, what else are you going to expect when Neeson kicks things off by saying, "I'm just a regular guy"? It’s basically just him leaning into the self-parody at this point. 🙂 I'm expecting a good movie...

Absolute idiots with Skarsgård. You've got Bruno Ganz basically speaking English so the whole world can understand him, plus the Man from Mostar, Sergej Trifunović.

It looks like Moland decided to pull a Haneke and just imitate his own style, frame by frame.

It's a good movie, definitely not your typical action flick with Liam Neeson.

I really dig the dark humor and some of the writing choices.

And that snow... as always, it just elevates the whole thing.

Highly recommend if you want some fun.

The movie loses steam a bit toward the end, but the finale is cool. So, all in all, worth a watch.

I started by watching the original—A Walk Among the Tombstones—and then decided to check this version out.

Man, the original was just so much better, and I’m honestly making a vow to myself right now that this is the very last time I attempt to sit through some Hollywood remake of a great European film...

Basically, the director just remade his own movie, except this version is actually funny. It leans into every possible cliché to poke fun at everything from traditional masculinity to feminism, minorities, and political correctness.

I don't know. Honestly, after seeing the original, this version was just laughable and almost unwatchable. The acting was pretty weak. It’s the first Liam Neeson movie I’ve seen that felt totally ridiculous. To me, the first version is about ten times funnier. Plus, the cast is leagues better—especially the lead and the villain.🍿

From what I can tell, all the best sequences and nods from the original made it into this version, aside from one bit involving a Mexican finding an Albanian provocation hidden in a road sign year—which was a great touch. This American version actually adds a few clever bits the original lacked, such as replacing the Mexicans with Native Americans, which adds a nice layer of political correctness satire to the mix. If you watch them back-to-back, you might find this one too derivative to enjoy. As for the humor, if you're judging strictly by delivery and vibe, sure, you could call this one funnier, but from a screenwriting standpoint, the original definitely holds the edge.

That’s exactly what I was getting at. For me personally, the acting makes this one way funnier. I always vibed more with the dark humor in the original. Since I'd already seen the original, I went into this one prepared, so of course the punchlines felt a bit blunt. Honestly, the whole thing was a letdown for me. It feels just like that original French movie about the guy in the stroller being messed with by a Black guy, which the Americans remade last year.🍿

I’m always talking about catching a movie and then never actually doing it, so I’m definitely sitting down for this one today. 😁 It better be worth it, though—it's got Liam Neeson in it.

When you sit down to compare *The Upside* with its predecessor, *The Intouchables*, you really start to weigh the nuances of how different cultures approach that same heartfelt story... It’s fascinating to see how the American version tries to find its own rhythm while staying true to the spirit of the original, even if the vibes feel just a little bit different once you get into the thick of it... One feels perhaps more polished for a domestic audience, whereas the other has that raw, unmistakable energy that made the first one such a global phenomenon... It makes you wonder if any remake can ever truly capture that lightning in a bottle...

I honestly can't wrap my head around why anyone would even consider watching it... I had such an absolute blast with the original that I don't see any reason to go and ruin that perfect experience for myself...
