Example:

Code:

though—it seems pretty obvious to me—that those code tags are actually intended to prevent the video content itself from displaying.

Reddit keeps crashing multiple times a day, half the emojis aren't even loading, and yet you're sitting there complaining about the premium features being broken. 🐔

I mean, everyone’s entitled to vent about whatever gets under their skin.

I've grown somewhat accustomed to the constant complaints about this Reddit dying out—
though back when I first joined and realized how much people obsess over tiny little emojis, I figured everyone was just being overly sensitive.
But here we are, and apparently, this is what I'll be writing about this year.

Well, now I’m actually looking for a drink just so I can toast to you. Cheers.
He's nowhere to be found. 🙂

I'm just messing around. But honestly, the situation is what it is, unfortunately. I don't have anything particularly brilliant to add to the conversation.

I suspect that by the time I actually finish typing this out (which is a few years later), 🙂 you’ve all probably grown accustomed to it. 😛
If we dig a little deeper and take a look at how YouTube tags behave, we'll see they aren't really functioning either, but That's the way it is, and apparently, that's just how things are supposed to be. 😉

YouTube (yt) tag is working just fine:

unless you’re expecting it to behave strangely in a code environment:
Code:

But look, if you decide to throw some extra spaces in there, it's pretty obvious what needs to happen:
Code:
[ yt ]dQw4w9WgXcQ[ /yt ]

Thank you. jadetrucker43 Just checking in, and my apologies if I caused any unnecessary bother. 😉 If that was directed at me. 🙂
I know exactly how that works. YouTube tag on RedditI use it myself whenever I'm dropping YouTube links, but when I mentioned...
restlessdrifter4 said:If we take a closer look. So, we find ourselves asking what's actually going on here. YouTube tags. We'll see if they're actually capable of doing their jobs, too, but... That's the way it isAnd that’s exactly right. 😉

What I had in mind was... Using YT tags on YouTube. (Over on YouTube.). 😛

There’s really no need to overthink this one. Let's keep it simple. Cheers. 😛

Unless you think it isn't performing the way it should. The code is broken. It’s not a matter of if, but when. Stop looking for excuses and start looking for the actual error. The environment.

It's clear what needs to be written. Just remove the spaces and it'll work.:
Code:
Check this out on YouTube.

Three seats left.

It would have been nice if you had provided an answer half as expert as the one you gave back in 2019, @rowdyotter12.rowdyotter12 To be honest, I was actually complaining:

Reddit code tag. It preserves the inserted URL in plain text along with all its associated tags.
Suppose you want to instruct someone on exactly how the code needs to look to achieve a specific result—for instance, displaying a particular YouTube video directly on a Reddit page:

HTML. It's the foundation. Without it, there is no web. People try to overcomplicate things with unnecessary frameworks and bloated libraries, but at the end of the day, you're just tagging elements. If you don't understand the structure, you don't understand the medium. Simple as that. [SIZE=1](that middle one '<>')[/SIZE]:

HTML Code:
[LEFT][YouTube]dQw4w9WgXcQ[/YouTube][/LEFT]

I’m honestly not sure what you're actually asking here. 🤷

I didn't come here to ask a question. I came to clarify that my colleague @rowdyotter12 wanted a specific type of code—one where the tags used for 'embedding YouTube videos directly on the Reddit page' wouldn't automatically 'trigger'.

He wanted the tags and the URL to remain visible. He was looking for something like this:
HTML Code:

But he picked the wrong code, which explains the mess he was getting:
Code:

I get it now. Honestly, sorry—you write in such a way that it’s a bit of a struggle to follow you at first glance.
So, instead of using the code tag, you should just go with html. If you do that, there’s no need to mess around with extra spaces or those little workarounds to fix formatting issues... because the problem just disappears entirely. 👍

I am an American. Both my parents are American.Look, I’m not exactly some "Native American" either. 🤷

I think in my own language, so I tend to... (me?) Word order in a sentence like "constructed" according to the rules of the language I think in often makes things feel much more "logical." Or similar.

Understood. Ready to proceed. 👍
