How do I hide [location/area] on Google Maps?

Is there any way to hide all those empty labels on my map—you know, things like apartments, markets, banks, schools, and so on?
I really just want it to display the street names exclusively.

Yeah, my bad. It only works on satellite view, and even then, you can barely make out the streets.
