New PC Case Pick

Hey everyone, I'm running an i5 paired with an NVIDIA GTX 970, so it's pretty close to a high-end setup.

My current case is about 10 years old. It’s massive and keeps temps great, but lately, the USB hubs have been dying on me—actually caused a short circuit today that nearly fried everything inside. I think it's finally time for a modern upgrade, so I'm looking for recommendations.

Budget is around $433, and I've got my eye on this one:

EDIT: I've got a Corsair 550W PSU that's holding up fine for now, but I'm not sure if it can handle the load with the NZXT H1 since that thing packs a lot of fans.

Honestly, if I were choosing between the R4-ke, I wouldn't bother going any further than the R5—especially since the price is such a steal right now. But hey, if the R4 isn't really doing it for you, you should definitely check out the Phanteks Enthoo PRO instead.

So, does that mean this Zalman H1 is just straight-up worse than everything else you guys suggested, or are they all pretty much in the same ballpark and I should just pick based on how they look?

Go ahead and buy whichever one you prefer, but honestly, that case just isn't worth the asking price.

Including the H1 in an elite case roundup highlights its main flaw: it's built with mid-grade materials and relies on mid-tier design choices, such as those sliding-tab side panels. It features exactly one standout characteristic, and while that single feature is quite nice, it isn't enough to elevate this chassis to best-in-class status.

I mean, you're paying nearly almost $433 for a case that's labeled as having "average build quality."
Check out the reviews for the R4 (you can find US-based coverage from PC Expert too) or even the R5—they're significantly more affordable, too.

Thanks. I've been digging around for a while and finally settled on the Enthoo Pro. I toyed with the idea of getting the Luxe version, but I think I'll stick with the Pro. Honestly, having a full tower just feels safer if I want to do some major upgrades down the road.

@Alexander Moore67 don't even go there 😁 I you’re seriously out here recommending that ancient copper low-profile Zalman for an i5 overclock? That HAF case is basically a relic at this point compared to everything else out there—there’s no way it’s going to be quieter than the FD or the Enth.

It's pretty obvious you haven't spent much time looking at cases if you're acting like this airflow layout is some big discovery. This is the standard setup and fan placement found in basically any case more expensive than $33...
