I would like to ask a CNN supermoderator or perhaps another senior administrator to please look into the increasingly tense and frequent reactions from moderator Sandra Kern38 regarding my posts on the TV forum for soap operas, and occasionally over on Unseen.
Based on everything that has unfolded so far, I can’t help but feel that the moderator is personally targeting me and trying to get me banned.

To give you some context, looking back at yesterday's activity in the song of life thread—which is the Turkish soap opera I've been following lately—the moderator actually took a jab at me personally in one of her posts. She implied that I am being malicious, argumentative, and suggested that I'm making too much of myself as a user. I am officially reporting that post.

Here is the link:
http://www.reddit.com/quote

Shortly after that, once the series had wrapped up properly on TV, I posted a comment about the plot developments and was slapped with a penalty in less than twenty minutes. Her reasoning was as follows:

Dear mellowotter17,

You have received an infraction at Forum.hr.

Reason: Trolling
-------
how much more are you going to obsessively talk about money???? Haven't you moved past that yet? Are we going to count cash until the end of the series? Does anyone actually care, or have you not noticed by now? Yet, you just keep insisting.

You are disrupting the flow of constructive discussion on this thread. That is trolling.
-------

This infraction is worth 25 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

Original Post:

Quote:
Why does the righteous Huso always have to be the first to find out all of Hulija's secrets?
How is that poor guy supposed to keep quiet now; his conscience won't let him rest!

And from what I can see, Hulija also "earned" quite a bit from Mehmet!
Mahir stole those first half a million Euros and gave them back to Hulija (half was probably gold and half was cash), and now her sister Filiz is insisting on the return of the full half million.
Mahir earned a cut too, 5% every single time.
Well, I suppose this is proof that Filiz took the money, but we can discuss that later.
To me, this feels like pure vindictiveness and a failure to manage personal emotions and animosity toward a user, which is something I simply don't expect from a moderator.

Even before she jumped into this specific thread, she was commenting on other users' posts in the main soap opera threads in a way that clearly implied she was talking about me, though honestly, this isn't even the first time she's done this. She does it in the Chat, on the spoilers, and in other threads where her friends hang out.

http://www.reddit.com/quote

She constantly devalues comments made in the main soap opera threads by using very biased language.

It makes me wonder—and I am asking the supermoderators here—isn't this forum meant to be a place for expressing opinions, including critical ones? Is this forum intended to be a fan club for specific actors, characters, or couples where nothing critical can ever be said about them?

Are certain threads essentially private chat rooms for specific groups of users?

Is someone who doesn't like certain actors or finds flaws in the plot considered a "disruptor of the peace"?

Is only praise and worship of the actors considered acceptable writing for a soap opera thread or the spoilers section?

If that is indeed the case, then please just state it clearly in the subforum rules and be done with it.

Furthermore, I truly believe that differing viewpoints encourage discussion rather than stifling it, contrary to what the moderator implies.
Perhaps there is a sensitive soul out there who thinks playing in the sand isn't fun unless it's done exactly their way, but I really don't think that should be a moderation issue.

I don't want to get too carried away with this topic just yet, but there is quite a bit of chatter happening outside of the forums regarding the specific way people write and how things are moderated on those American soap opera boards.

I really need to correct a quote from the post above; I mentioned that the issue was actually with the series song of life, but that’s not quite right—it’s actually about Girl from the Village. My apologies if I caused any confusion!

I imagine that this whole discussion about the soap operas might not be a huge priority for you supermoderators, and perhaps some petty squabble over household chores doesn't seem like a big deal, but I’d kindly ask if the supermoderators could take a quick look after they finish their day jobs. I’m hoping you can see if there's any actual merit to the report I filed against a user who happens to be a moderator, and whether my own warning flag, which she handed out in retaliation, actually holds any water.
Everything else I mentioned regarding the climate within the soap opera threads and the spoilers is just my own personal experience, so I realize it doesn't directly affect you—I get that. However, believe me when I say it really hurts the overall vibe of the forum, and because of that, most topics feel less cohesive, except for those few that seem intentionally blown out of proportion with some pretty questionable motives.

I have to respectfully disagree with you there! Honestly, I’ve been following this entire thread, and from my perspective, the moderator is doing an absolutely stellar job. It is an enormous amount of work, really, especially since there are constant debates teetering right on the edge of a full-blown shouting match, and—if I may be so bold—you seem to be involved in most of those, always bringing such a confrontational tone to the table. You know, I truly believe it would be beneficial if you tried to look at things from the viewpoint of the other users here, or even from the perspective of those of us who just quietly observe the discussion without getting involved.

Therefore, I strongly suggest that you work on your overall tone and the way you express yourself, because, quite frankly, we are all becoming utterly exhausted by what feels like nothing less than psychological harassment.

mellowotter17, look, you’ve seriously crossed the line on this thread. More than a few people here have asked you to just dial it back a notch, but instead, you just keep doubling down. You can't keep hiding behind the excuse that you're just sharing your opinion. I mean, come on—you’re watching less than half an episode of a show (and let’s be real, you can't really watch these types of series that way; sure, you could, but then you aren't exactly providing high-quality discussion; sometimes a single quick cut happens and you miss the entire context for a character's motivation, for those who aren't familiar with how these dramas are paced), and based on that tiny snippet, you form some big opinion and keep insisting that the show isn't suspenseful enough. Fine, maybe it isn't for you, whatever, but given the circumstances, try being a little more self-aware toward the rest of us who actually sit through the full two hours without missing a beat and actually enjoy it.
To be perfectly blunt, you've completely killed my motivation to write or ask anything, not because I missed something while watching, but simply because I've lost the desire to read your stuff.

Whether I enjoy this series or not has absolutely nothing to do with any other users on this board; I haven't directed a single word at any specific person, but rather I've just been sharing my own negative take on the main characters, which is something I feel entitled to do.

The fact that this might come across to you all as bickering doesn't mean I'm actually fighting with anyone, because I'm not arguing with the community—I'm critiquing the plot and the characters themselves.

Criticizing how the characters are written or how the story unfolds isn't the same thing as picking a fight with fellow members, so let's not get our wires crossed on those definitions.

Having a different perspective shouldn't be treated as something unwelcome.

I truly am sorry if my comments dampen the viewing experience for anyone else, but I'm certainly not denying any of the little details that make the show what it is, nor do I want my critiques to be dismissed entirely.

And honestly, I still feel that the moderator here tends to be more subjective than objective, much like her approach to many other topics we've discussed so far.

The fact that you all happen to agree with her doesn't really change anything for me, because, well, I disagree, and I believe I have every right to feel that way.

You’re wrong there. Honestly, over the years, I’ve disagreed with Sandra Kern38 more times than I can count, and I have no intention of starting now. But even when we're on completely different pages, she’s never once been negative toward me, nor has she ever resorted to that petty, vengeful attitude you see so often online. If you're looking for people you can actually sit down with and have a real, civilized debate—without all the usual drama—she and Ball are the ones to talk to.
Look, you really went overboard this time. Seriously, you crossed the line. I don't even know what to say anymore—you just completely overdid it. She killed him. Look, let’s get one thing straight about this thread. I’m telling you right now, I am not one of those soft, spineless forum dwellers you keep talking about. I’m not one of those people who sits around drooling over every little detail or leaving comments like they’re watching some high-brow production on PBS instead of just hanging out on a TV forum. I don't belong to that crowd, and frankly, I have no interest in being part of it. Soft little souls.Just pull your punches for once. This is where we actually get to see what a real culture of dialogue looks like—how people actually conduct themselves when they're engaging with one another. It isn’t just about dumping your opinions out there; it's about how you approach the people on the other side of the conversation. What do you guys think? I'm looking for some honest opinions here. And honestly, your take is even more flawed because you’re trying to build an entire argument based on just a handful of episodes you’ve actually seen. You're basically trying to construct a whole foundation out of scraps, which is why your logic feels so half-baked. You’re basically running the bank at this point. And honestly, it’s not just what you’re saying—it’s the way you go about delivering it. A lot of people around here feel like your whole approach is just way too over the top.

Look, you’re calling on a supermod who’s probably out enjoying some time off anyway. Even if he isn't, he shouldn't be expected to be glued to this forum twenty-four seven. And even if he is around, he needs actual time to get up to speed—he can't just jump in blindly; he has to read through the thread first. Being a supermod for the TV section isn't his only responsibility, you know. This isn't about how he feels toward some random people typing away in the comments.

By the way, if you're looking to file an appeal regarding those cards, don't bother starting a whole new thread. There’s already a massive master thread pinned right at the top of the PZK board specifically for card disputes. Just jump in there instead of cluttering things up with a new post. 😉

ps.
One more thing—I honestly used to love reading your posts. There was always something substantial there, some real substance that kept me coming back. But honestly? If you keep this up, I’m going to end up hitting that ignore button. I haven't even gotten to that point yet, but the way things are going, it’s inevitable. Then again, since you're one of only three people actually keeping this forum alive, and I’ve already blocked one of them, bothering to use the ignore tool feels pretty pointless at this stage.

@Sandra Adams66/">@@Sandra Adams66, I was actually going to suggest you just put me on your ignore list, but then I saw your reply.
I didn't start this new thread because of my ban, but rather to address the report I filed regarding the post about The Witch.
So, that’s really the heart of the matter.
As for the ban itself, I’m not particularly upset by it, though it feels quite silly to me; it clearly wasn't issued for a single comment, but seems more like a judgment on my overall "vibe" or style of posting.

I don't always sit through every single episode from start to finish, but I’ll catch a rerun in the morning sometimes and share my thoughts on what I saw.
The reason I'm reaching out to the Supermods isn't actually about the ban, but about those little warning flags and the fact that I got flagged for a post that had only been up for fifteen minutes—and honestly, it wasn't even an insult, just me pointing out a factual detail from the show.

And just to be clear, I have absolutely nothing against any other woman on this forum, regardless of how they write, their personal style, or their grammar, and for that same reason, I'm not bothered by people's opinions of me or my writing style.
I have zero interest in getting into a back-and-forth argument with you or trying to prove anything, which is why I opened this thread, and I truly feel bad if you intend to keep this up, because I just can't get behind that kind of interaction.

P.S.:

Honestly, it wouldn't be a huge deal at all if I just stepped away from this thread; it's certainly not the most important thing in my life, especially if you, the moderator, or other ladies here feel uncomfortable because of how I express myself.

However, that doesn't mean I'm okay with receiving unfounded criticism just for sharing my perspective.

Anyway, there you have it. Simple as that.

You’re interpreting the reactions your own work provokes as some kind of desperate craving for an argument. 😢 😢
I have absolutely zero interest in doing that, or anything even remotely similar. I’m here to talk—or rather, I'm trying to, though that usually requires two people actually participating.

Regarding those "technicalities" you brought up: a warning can be issued for a single post, and if I recall correctly, that’s generally how the rules work here. Post reports are handled by the moderators with the colored usernames assigned to that specific section of the forum; L3gu isn't one of them, so there's no way they saw it. As far as I can tell, your appeal doesn't really make sense; the core issue seems to be right there in the title. 🤔 If you’re going to claim this is some kind of vendetta, you’d need to provide substantial evidence to back that up (especially since, in my opinion, Sandra Kern38 is a pretty lenient moderator). There is nothing unusual about you receiving what you call a collective warning, nor is there anything strange about it happening twenty minutes after the post was published—the mod happened to be looking at the thread at that moment, and you failed to take the hint despite other users repeatedly asking you to get on track. Honestly, even if you had received the warning 24 hours later in a specific instance, it wouldn't change the reality of the situation.

I’m not saying you should be kicked from the thread, as you suggested, but it would be a huge help if you would (finally) start listening to the other people discussing the topic and actually get a feel for the tone of the conversation.

Anyway, that’s my two cents. No hard feelings, please.

it isn't even on my radar to do that, or anything remotely similar. I'm just talking—well, trying to, which usually takes two people, doesn't it?

as far as the 'technicalities' go, a warning can be issued for a single post, and if I recall correctly, that’s usually how it works; the post reports are visible to the colored nicknames assigned to that specific section of the PPDF, and since L3gu isn't one of them, they wouldn't have seen it; honestly, I don't think your grievance is clearly stated, because the core issue seems to lie in the title itself. 🤔 if you're going to claim there's some sort of vendetta involved, you really ought to back that up (especially since, in my opinion, Sandra Kern38 is a pretty (pre)mild moderator). There is absolutely nothing unusual about receiving what you call a collective warning, nor is there anything strange about it happening twenty minutes after the post was published—the moderator happened to be looking at the thread at that moment, and despite other users repeatedly asking you to get back on track over time, you just didn't take the hint. Even if you had received the warning twenty-four hours later in a specific instance, it wouldn't have changed the outcome.

I'm not suggesting you should be kicked from the thread, as you put it, but it would probably be a good idea if you (finally) started listening to the other participants and actually sensing the vibe of the topic.

So, that's all. No hard feelings, please.

Seriously, I truly, deeply do not want to argue with you!

Your interpretation of how moderation works doesn't mean much to me; I have no clue who's on vacation or who's working, or how warnings are typically handed out versus when they aren't. I know the rules, and I haven't insulted anyone or intentionally caused chaos, even if that's how the moderator perceives it. My opinion and my way of expressing myself remain the same; perhaps the topics and the people I'm talking to are different, but that's just not something I can control.

I genuinely don't care, and I have zero intention of finding out how or in what cases collective or individual warnings are given, or who is away on holiday and such. And please, let's not be patronizing here; don't try to teach me how to post in this thread. To be perfectly honest, I'm not really interested in "listening to my interlocutors" because I don't write for them.
The urge to write comes from within, you know what I mean?
And of course, I don't plan on returning to this thread; the forum has much more interesting topics than this one about sapunica. This was just a little distraction for me, nothing vital or necessary.

Ribek, I haven't caught up on what you wrote in the thread you mentioned, but I agree that someone "above" Sandra Kern38 needs to step in regarding her moderation. She struggles with being objective, and anyone who disagrees with her becomes a target. Those of us she doesn't favor have to watch every single word we say, while her favorites can post whatever they want—if they go too far, their posts just get moved to the Chat without so much as a warning. For instance, here are a few girls who love Sinan from Faziletkinja; one was permanently banned simply because she suggested they were clones.

Sandra Adams66 said:That is incorrect. She reached no conclusions, certainly not on her own.

What are you even doing? Are you the Secretary of Defense or something, Sandra Kern38?

You can defend her all you want, but her conduct is unprofessional. You accused someone else of killing the thread, yet look at what Sandra Kern38 did with her moderation on Faziletkinja. She essentially drove away every girl who was a fan of Sinan from the topic. Those few who actually posted were being so insulting that their comments were unreadable, and not a single one received a warning. Are you suggesting this is proper moderation? That this isn't killing a thread? I won't even get started on Kiralik Ask; the comments there had nothing to do with the show, yet she allowed it without blinking. It was only when I asked where the moderator was that she moved it to the Chat, and even then, there wasn't a single warning issued.

I have lived in this country long enough to know how a forum should function. I know how to communicate and how to behave, and I cannot tolerate injustice. We are all subjective, but if we are performing a role—let's call it "judge"—then we must distance ourselves from our personal opinions and distribute justice equally. The scales must always be balanced. If she is incapable of that, she shouldn't hold the position.

As for banning users, I am certain that decision rests with some think tank. Give me a break. If more people are needed, one moderator should initiate the process and the others should confirm it. It is as if they don't care about a subforum; perhaps then they would actually read an appeal and bother to respond. It is interesting how many Yagiz fans have suddenly appeared, and just as interesting how none of them are clones. 😬

Honestly, we don't need a lawyer here, especially not Sandra Kern38. What really baffles me is how much time people spend hanging out on this site without actually making any effort to understand how it works. Every time someone tries to step in—with good intentions, mind you—to explain things, they end up being labeled as condescending or whatever. Then, of course, everyone immediately pivots to petty bickering. 🙄Where did the ability to have an actual conversation go?

ps.
A post popped up right while I was typing.
Anything said without linking to specific examples is just empty talk, and usually, those complaints just get ignored.
From what you've written, it's pretty obvious you aren't quite familiar with how the forum or the moderation team (including the higher-ups) actually functions. But hey, look, you learn a lot of things once you're on the other side or by following certain threads here. But to get there, you actually have to talk—constructively. If you even know how to do that, or actually want to.

@Sandra Adams66/">@@Sandra Adams66, you’re practically suggesting we lock this thread down since YOU seem to be the expert on how things should work around here.

Honestly, just take a breather!

I haven't personally clashed with you in any other threads, nor have I ever gotten into a heated argument with you right here, but it feels like you’ve completely lost your way lately... I'm not sure if it's due to some personal hang-ups, groupthink, or who knows what else is going on behind the scenes.
If I could offer one little piece of advice, it would simply be to calm down—that's really all! Unless, of course, you've somehow been appointed as our official spokesperson.

@restlessheron8/">@@restlessheron8 is absolutely spot on!
Nobody has dared to criticize the Faziletkinja topic because it was such an outlier from the start! I talk about the thread itself, yet those who focused on the characters seemed to get incredibly defensive.
I don't have any big plans for now, but... well, the time will come, whether it's within this thread or through the people in charge.
Anyone with even a tiny bit of common sense can see what’s happening, so I'm just waiting to see if anyone else speaks up, and if they don't... I certainly have plenty to say, and not just to the administration.

And, to be perfectly honest, since it seems to be the standard routine with these American soap operas, whether things are shown or left unsaid, I am now bracing myself for a wave of posts from everyone in the "ruling party" who will likely step forward to oppose my writing, my style, my work, or my personality—you name it.

I originally started this thread hoping to address how a specific flagged post just went ignored—one made by a fellow forum member who also happens to be a moderator over at CNN. She actually took issue with my language and ended up banning me for what I honestly feel was a totally harmless and minor comment, but things have clearly spiraled out of control. Now, I find myself heading down a path I didn't quite intend to take, but it's addressing a frustration that has been weighing on me for quite some time.

But clearly, things have spiraled, and now I'm heading down a path I didn't necessarily intend to take, though it's been weighing on me for a while now.

Well, you essentially reported my post to me and my own colleagues. The tools we have access to don't exactly give us the option to issue warnings to ourselves or other moderators. You opened this thread fourteen hours after the report was filed. It's been three days now, and... nothing. Absolute silence.
It would have been much more efficient if you had just privately contacted my super-mod L3gu to bring this to his attention, since he doesn't get direct notifications for post reports. He might not even check this specific subforum every day—maybe he's on vacation, or just busy, who knows—so it would probably be wise to send him a DM and let him know his presence is needed here.

As for this whole "revenge" and "retaliation" drama you've so theatrically characterized regarding the trolling warning—let's be real:

Most of what you've written in this thread is hovering right on the edge of being pure trolling. What you're doing isn't exactly "just expressing an opinion," as people like to say. I gave you the explanation when I issued the warning. And the claim that you were posting about something that "just aired on TV" simply isn't true. This has been going on for some time now:

I'll start with the most recent ones—mostly because my memory isn't exactly what it used to be, and those are still fresh in my mind.
About half a mil Euro (or whatever—that's what Mahir ends up swiping from Cem later on);
So, if we’re looking at the math here—and I do love a good breakdown, even when it makes my head spin—Mahir ends up walking away with a 5% cut... which, in cold, hard cash, puts him right at 25,000 Euro. Not exactly pocket change, is it?
I have no clue how much they paid those background actors—honestly, I can't even begin to wrap my head around what those extras pulled in.
I mean, I honestly don't even know how many times Filiz had to check herself into the hospital before all that—not that anyone was keeping track—but eventually, Kerim stepped up and picked up the tab.
So then it was just blah, blah, blah—you know how it goes—just some trivial nonsense about that hat... or whatever.
Even back when she was living in Germany—well before she actually had Filiz—she was out there asking for the exact same half a million Euros.
Before all that, she was actually asking for 200k—but, you know, blah, blah, blah.
Honestly, I have absolutely no clue where people are even blowing through all that cash in just a few days. It’s baffling—really.
Remember that gold in the little bag Filiz handed over at the start? Now that Mahir’s actually given her his share, she’s claiming it’s enough to buy two houses in Turkey? Honestly, give me a break.

Good grief—we’re talking about millions of Euros plus an equal amount in gold within less than a single year. That’s it. Just two big hauls. And all that from just one marriage! Honestly, what would have happened if she’d actually gone through with two?

So, word on the street is that Hulija—using her own personal stash, mind you—went ahead and shelled out an entire year's rent upfront for that apartment over in Germany. And get this: we’ve found out that place runs anywhere from 3,000 to 4,000 Euro a month. Just... wow.
Let’s be real—she had an extra stream of income too. I mean, Bajramčić was throwing around 100,000 Euros like it was nothing when the heir to the coal empire was finally born—though whether Hulija actually cashed that out remains anyone's guess.

So, about those first half-million Euros—Mahir basically swiped them and then handed them back to Hulija (half of that was probably tucked away in gold, while the rest was straight cash, I'm guessing)—but now, Filiz’s sister is digging her heels in, insisting on getting the full half-million back. Just typical, really.
Even Mahir walked away with a win this time—bagging a solid 5% cut every single time.🙂

So, you’ve been trolling for days now with this whole theory that Hulija is probably stealing money from someone—that it’s all just some big play for cash, where she gets the funds, how she manages it, etc. Honestly, almost nobody is even bothering to engage with you in a real debate about it—mostly because your claims aren't actually backed by anything, and frankly, the rest of us aren't even remotely interested in that particular rabbit hole.

Look, I told you this before—posts like yours are exactly what kills any chance of a constructive discussion. Honestly? You’re just being tedious.
Honestly, you’re really going out of your way to stir the pot here—I mean, you're actually taking things this far just to pick a fight?

I’ve been a moderator over there for about four or five years now. During that entire stretch, you’ve been incredibly active on that thread. This idea that I’m trying to "get back at you" or play favorites is complete nonsense. Honestly, I think your contributions to the subforum are actually quite valuable. From my end, you’ve only received a total of three 25-point warnings. And—get this—all three happened within the last three months. Which means, quite frankly, your posts have become increasingly aggressive lately. There's more blatant mockery of the people you call "sensitive souls," more belittling of female users you deem "younger," more condescension, more trolling just to stir the pot, and even outright insults.

Those warnings are strictly a heads-up that this style of discussion isn't something we can tolerate here. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less, and certainly no conspiracy theory (see: your tendency to inflate your own importance).

One more thing: post reports come to our private email, not directly to the forum interface. If I happen to be active on a thread—writing, reading, whatever—I don't magically know I've received an email report. I only see it once I check my inbox. Just because I'm on the forum doesn't mean I've seen the report, and it certainly doesn't mean I'm going to lose my cool and go on some retaliatory spree within twenty minutes without checking my mail first.🙂

Give me a break!

Look, I haven't personally had a single issue with you on any other thread, and I haven't even gotten into a direct argument with you here, but you have obviously lost your way. I don't know if it's due to personal complexes, some weird group mentality, or who knows what else, but you've lost the plot.
If I could offer you one piece of advice, it would be this: just calm down. Unless, of course, you’ve been appointed as our official spokesperson or something.

🙂 🙂 🙂

If anyone has lost their way, it's definitely you. 😉
